In the online meeting of the "Smart Innovation Community" organized by Fraunhofer IAO yesterday, I talked about Kairntech projects. Thank you for the invitation! I talked about our work in the EU project #COMMUTE, in which we are working with colleagues from Fraunhofer SCAI on the analysis of scientific literature on Covid-19. Among other things, I described the intensive publication activity in the project (e.g. https://lnkd.in/eFmYRMHU), where the experts at SCAI compared our approaches with the results from large language models. Very interesting paper! And since we obviously couldn't read these papers in my short presentation, we asked Kairntech Software to summarize the essence of this paper for us: see below. (Spoiler: we were pretty proud to read the paper). Thanks to the interested audience yesterday and thanks to the first author Negin Babaiha from Fraunhofer SCAI for the exciting study!

Low-Code AI Platform for Information Professional & Analyst to automate text analysis and make better informed decision
À propos
From Documents to Business Impact: The problem we address is how to analyse large volumes of documents to extract the information necessary for decision making in technical, scientific, military but also commercial, legal, administrative or accounting matters. This problem is faced by all "Analysts", including (1) Researchers in all fields, who analyse scientific information, patents, conferences every day to find development lines or solutions to industrial problems. (2) Customer relations analysts who use call centre recordings or e-mails sent directly by customers or verbatims from opinion surveys. (3) Auditors who check the accuracy of a company's or organisation's accounts and whose work leads them to analyse all kinds of contracts (sales contracts, employment contracts, commercial leases, etc.). (4) Some lawyers, because they have to consult numerous legal or regulatory texts or case law. This is also the case for lawyers responsible for ensuring that their company complies with all laws and regulations. (5) Specialists in certain fields related to the defence and protection of property and persons or to justice. We have developed a platform that makes this task fast, accurate, fun and accessible to everyone. - Fast because we have implemented different technologies to significantly bootstrap and accelerate the creation of training datasets and AI models. - Accurate because we use state-of-the-art neural networks and provide the user with numerous tools, including dataset search, filtering and analysis tools, to evaluate, correct and measure the quality of datasets and AI models. - Fun because the platform allows for stimulating real-time interaction between the user and the machine through an intuitive and easy-to-use graphical interface. - Accessible to all because it does not require computer or language skills and anyone can use the platform without having to write a line of code.

Kairntech upcoming webinar October 24, 2024 at 4PM CET to present use cases on Generative AI in Finance Industry Regulations Registration on zoom here: https://bit.ly/3TuaUj4 In heavily regulated industries such as finance and banking, analysing complex #regulations and ensuring #compliance with the respective rules is a considerable effort and a constant challenge. Recent advances in #AI and Natural Language Processing #NLP can contribute a lot to making these processes more comprehensive and efficient. In this webinar the two speakers outline how Large Language Models (#LLMs) can be employed for these tasks: - Kai Lebeth shares his experiences of dealing with regulatory compliance in the financial industry for many years for a major german bank. - Stefan Geißler, co-founder of Kairntech, presents use cases within the Kairntech AI software platform. The webinar is free of charge. There will be a Q&A session at the end.

We had the pleasure to present some impressions about generative AI and what it means for many business processes today to an audience of the Pharma Documentation Ring P-D-R i4i group today. We were referring in particular to some of the work that we have done with colleagues at Boehringer Ingelheim: Dr. Karlheinz Spenny and Dr. Gabriele Becher from Boehringer added a live demo on some scenarios. Many thanks go out to the interested audience at the P-D-R and to Karlheinz and Gabi for joining the show and making it possible.

The NEMO consortium, led by Sintef (No) and involving Kairntech, has been selected to take part in the European Defence Fund's Human Language Technology challenge. With the digitalisation of the battlefield, which leads to more and more complex user interfaces and to ever-increasing volumes of language data to process, #language technologies such as multilingual written or spoken interaction, translation, and Information Retrieval are needed in an increasing number of defence systems, especially for #C4ISR (Computerized Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence & Surveillance) and joint multinational and/or peacekeeping operations. This is a 5-year project in which Kairntech will work with its partners. Kairntech's contribution will be to support automatic text analysis in an efficient and practical way of different Natural Language Processing (#NLP) features, focusing on five tasks: Named Entity Recognition (NER), text classification, event detection, relationship extraction and question-answering (Retrieval Augmented Generation scenario - RAG). We will use state-of-the-art language technologies including #GenAI, #MachineLearning, #DeepLearning, Large Language Models (#LLMs)... on a number of different European and Eastern languages.

New Project MindSpeak: Kairntech partners with NiceDay HealthCare Nederland to enhance data-supported #psychotherapy through Advanced AI Powered Language Technologies and Personalization. While mental health problems are increasing rapidly worldwide, with a 13% rise in mental health conditions and substance use disorders in the last decade alone, there is a shortage of qualified mental #healthcare personnel to provide treatment. This is a global issue, with many countries, including in the EU, facing similar challenges. In the Netherlands for instance, this shortage has resulted in long waiting lists and patients being turned away from mental health centres. Accordingly, it is vital to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of #treatment to both improve treatment outcome as well as lessen the burden on the therapist. In the MindSpeak project #NiceDay and Kairntech will develop a unique and revolutionary feature for Digital Mental Health Care Interventions (DMHIs) which, by using Natural Language Processing (#NLP), not only automates therapist tasks, but also creates and leverages #data to radically improve the quality of treatments. At the core of the process is the automated generation and smart #summarization of meeting notes after each treatment. With the use of beyond state of the art NLP, the spoken text during the (online) treatment session will be transcribed, cleaned, reworked, also being able to distinguish between speakers. Through complex NLP pipelines the platform will be able to generate smart summaries, based not only the generated text during the meeting, but they will also be enriched relying on #metadata such as historical meeting notes and input data from the therapist. Automating this task saves mental healthcare professionals up to an hour a day and allows them to treat more patients within the same amount of time.

A good year ago the NLP world was struck by the #LLM revolution. So how should we combine LLMs with our existing platform that is based upon 20+ years of experience in language processing? The mechanism that caught our attention is called #RAG (Retriever Augmented Generation). Combined with a question answering interface, RAG allows you to obtain answers from internal, and often confidential documents. And besides document, audio and video can now also be used as a source. Any developer can build a RAG prototype. But we want that any business user can create a question answering solution. Fast and without coding... And that’s what we set out to build together with our customers. We are really proud and excited to announce a new release of our platform with question answering. To keep it short, to deliver business value we aim for: 👉 Fast prototyping in a #lowcode environment with a wide range of easy-to-use pre-packaged technology components 👉 Extensive customization possibilities because every case is different 👉 One-click industrialization through a rich API Please find below a short RAG customization guide. Further details can be found in our #whitepaper: https://bit.ly/3Oszsqg
