LEUKOS is a supercontinuum source designer and manufacturer headquartered in Limoges, France. Since 2006, we have been providing companies and researchers around the world with compact supercontinuum sources with relevant spectrum for their applications. Created in February 2006, LEUKOS is a start-up company born from XLIM laboratory, a mixed research unit (UMR 6172) from the French CNRS and the University of Limoges (FRANCE-87). The company was founded by pioneers of supercontinuum generation to develop brand new compact supercontinuum laser based on their expertise in nonlinear optics. LEUKOS team is composed of talented and dedicated employees who help create an innovative solution oriented culture. The majority of our staff has strong technical background, engineering technicians and optical engineers (Masters and PhD degrees), with the ability to design and implement their deep knowledge in customer oriented solutions. LEUKOS provide compact supercontinuum sources and variable fiber delay lines. Our solutions can be tailored to client specifications addressing microscopy, spectroscopy among many other fields. We take pride in being closed to our customers, we seek to provide the best affordable solution and our team is committed to offer customer support and training. 📸 What is the best camera for #Raman #Spectroscopy? 📸 I'm excited to share our recent article comparing detection systems. In short, the newer and cheaper CMOS sensor performs better or comparable than the CCD in many aspects. Our article, published recently in the Journal of Raman Spectroscopy, covers a detailed, direct comparison between CCD and CMOS detection systems. We conducted this research in Japan at Kyushu University, collaborating with our Dutch, Japanese and French institutes. Our main findings are: 1. 💡 While significantly cheaper, the CMOS performs better in high-light conditions (such as obtained with CARS spectroscopy). Its faster readout capabilities were limited only by the computer recording the signals (sub millisecond). 💡 2. The large dynamic range of the CMOS allows us to work over a broad range of conditions, which would not be possible with the CCD. 📈 3. The CMOS suffers less from bleeding of signals, which enables observation of intense and weak signals simultaneously. 📽️ 4. The CCD is still better suited for very low amounts of light. The cooled chip suffers less from noise, which makes the weakest signalsmore visible.📉 I think these fast detection possibilities, combined with new light sources for CARS, will open up more interesting applications for #RamanSpectroscopy.
