A few weeks ago, our team unloaded a gas turbine for EnBW 's new hydrogen-ready ‘Fuel Switch’ combined cycle gas turbine power plant in Altbach, Germany. This 400 MW gas turbine weighing approx. 390t arrived by barge. Due to limited space and a green belt along the river bank, the crawler crane had to operate at maximum outreach to safely lift the turbine over the treetops and place it on an SPMT. The SPMT could only approach the crane head-on. Therefore, the turbine had to be rotated by 90 degrees under the crane hook to align it parallel to the SPMT. In the heart of Munich (Germany), deep underground, Mammoet installed pressure gates and locks for the construction of the future S-Bahn station Marienhof. Since late 2021, Mammoet has been supporting the major project “2-S-Bahn.Stammstrecke”, with which Deutsche Bahn is creating a new, high-performance connection for people in the city. The ARGE Marienhof is building the new underground Marienhof station to a depth up to 45 meters. The connecting tunnel to the existing U-Bahn and the future platform tunnels will be excavated using compressed air. The lock components for the first tunnel excavation were lowered through a narrow opening to level -3, precisely transported to the installation position, carefully skidded and docked with only a few millimeters of clearance. #2Stammstrecke #ARGEMarienhof #Mammoet #Installation

Back in 2018, our team completed the heaviest lift for a manufacturing facility in Louisiana. The lift of the project’s largest vessel, which was 102 meters (335 ft.) long and weighed nearly 500 tonnes (1.1 million lbs.), was safely and swiftly executed utilizing the CC8800 equipped with Boom Booster. With limited space, due to surrounding construction, and a tight schedule, Mammoet devised a plan to execute the lift utilizing the CC8800 and tail the vessel with double, 12 axle-line SPMTs. Replacement of spent components within nuclear power plants is a complex operation, demanding high safety standards. But at the same time, many of these facilities were never designed to be maintained, making the work site complex and highly confined. These engineering projects are custom in nature and require lifting systems that can raise, turn and rotate modules to exit the reactor building. Mammoet engineers work alongside our customers for months and even years to remove nuclear modules from even the tightest spots. Mammoet has recently worked alongside ESTA Europe partners to help create new guidelines for the use of modular hydraulically suspended trailers, and so raise safety standards across the industry. Standard GD24002 clarifies terminology relating to forces exerted by loads on trailer bogies, the surface and wider ground bearing pressures. By standardizing these terms, the group is creating clarity in the workplace, and therefore reducing risk. #Mammoet #Trailer #Safety

Pre-assembly of offshore wind turbines in the controlled environment of a port optimizes the use of installation vessels. By reducing the number of lifts needed in offshore conditions, work can be completed sooner, and assets brought online quicker. By loading-in these components, storing them for easy access, assembling them and delivering them to the hook precisely on time, further cost-efficiencies can be realized. #ThrowbackThursday: To benefit from market circumstances, Methanex Corporation wanted to have a factory in Louisiana, USA, as quickly as possible. The best approach was the relocation of their existing plant from southern Chile, saving six to twelve months compared to constructing a new plant. Mammoet's team delivered an integrated package of services, lifting and moving almost 400 heavy components and modules and setting them up for reassembly. All components and modules had a combined weight of more than 157,000 tonnes. Our comprehensive services helped to get Methanex back to work sooner in its new North American home. #MovedByMammoet #Throwback #TBT #Chile #Louisiana #Modularization
