[Event] Menard's Environmental Ambassadors Workshop 💡 Last week, we hosted a workshop in Montreal, gathering our Menard Environmental Ambassadors to align on practical solutions and measurable steps toward our 2030 environmental targets: ✅ Scope 1 & 2: 40% CO2 reduction ✅ Scope 3: 20% CO2 reduction 📍 The Maison du développement durable in Montreal provided an excellent venue to foster collaboration and drive concrete action. Why this workshop matters: ✨ Learning from experience Hearing about initiatives from different regions is invaluable. Did you know that Menard UK operates 72% of its equipment with HVO, a 100% renewable biofuel? Or that Menard France is investing in compact, efficient, and sustainable equipment like the E250 and CEC 8018? These are innovations we can all learn from. 👨🎓 Real results, not just goals We discussed tangible outcomes that have already been achieved: MENARD USA, for instance, reduced its concrete’s emissions factor from 360 kg CO2/m³ in 2022 to 288 kg CO2/m³ in 2024, saving 5,000 tCO2e. These lessons pave the way for similar achievements globally. 🤝 Building actionable strategies Participants worked in teams to identify specific actions that can make a difference across our business units: 📌 Reducing equipment idle time and improving maintenance 📌 Scaling up the use of alternative fuels like HVO 📌 Increasing the adoption of low-carbon concrete formulations 📌 Expanding dynamic compaction to reduce reliance on traditional materials 🎯 Moving from plans to action At Menard, we’re not just setting targets—we’re making operational changes to achieve them. As a construction company, we acknowledge that our industry contributes significantly to global emissions and resource consumption. This responsibility motivates us to focus on tangible solutions: updating equipment, refining processes, and collaborating on innovative techniques that deliver measurable improvements. A big thank you to everyone involved, including the teams from Menard, Remea, and ConeTec, for driving these discussions and helping turn plans into impactful results. Together, we’re building a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable future—one step at a time. #Sustainability #Construction #Innovation #Menard

🔦 [Technique Spotlight] Bi-Modulus Columns (BMC) This week, we highlight Bi-Modulus Columns, a ground improvement technique that optimizes load transfer in soft or compressible soils. Bi-modulus columns enhance bearing capacity, reduce total and differential settlements, and improve stress distribution from the structure to the inclusions. This leads to an optimized thickness of the load transfer platform between the structure and the inclusions. 🔧 [Project] Bakheng Water Production Facilities – Phase 3, Phnom Penh, Cambodia 🌍 Menard Asia was commissioned to supply and install Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD) at the Bakheng Water Production Facilities. Key Highlights: 📍 Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia ⚙️ Technique: Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD) ⏱️ Duration: 5 weeks ⚙️Why Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD)? Covering a total surface area of 29,000 m², Menard Cambodia installed 360,000 meters of PVD to enhance soil drainage and accelerate settlement, providing a stable foundation for this essential facility. 📈Benefits: The project aimed to install approximately 12,500 (PVD) units in five weeks, utilizing a specialized PVD driving machine to reach depths of up to 30 meters. This innovative solution significantly improved the soil's drainage capacity, promoting faster settlement and ensuring a stable foundation for the water production facilities. [Project] Ground Improvement for a Distribution Center in Girardota, Colombia 🏗️ Menard Colombia is executing ground improvement work for a future Distribution Center in Girardota. Key Information: 📍 Location: Girardota, Antioquia, Colombia ⚙️ Technique: Dynamic Replacement 📅 Year: 2024 ⚙️Why dynamic Replacement? Menard Colombia has opted for the Dynamic Replacement technique to reinforce the soil at depths between 5 to 6 meters, covering an area of 49,000 m². This technique was selected because it is the most suitable for the site's heterogeneous soils, which have high variations in water content, debris, and soft clay. This will enable better control of project settlements and help optimize the project timeline. 🚧[Project] Soil improvement for an industrial building in Savoie, France The Rhône-Alpes/Auvergne team from Menard France delivered an innovative ground improvement solution using Rapid Impact Compaction (R.I.C.) to reinforce the foundation of a new building. Key Information: 📍 Location: Savoie, France ⚙️ Technique: Rapid Impact Compaction (R.I.C.) 📅 Year: 2024 Soil Conditions: Geotechnical investigations revealed variable sandy gravel layers that required efficient compaction. Why Rapid Impact Compaction (RIC)? The RIC technique is based on a device installed on a hydraulic crawler carrier. This solution allows for the creation of shallow foundations and uniformly reinforces the underlying soil without adding extra requirements for future work. Benefits: ◾Minimized financial impact ◾Building on shallow foundations ◾A homogeneous system for soil improvement ◾No incorporation of steel or concrete in the tracks ◾Use of local suppliers wherever possible ◾Use of existing soil To learn more about Menard France projects, visit : https://lnkd.in/d8p2qdHg #GroundImprovement #SustainableConstruction #SoilCompaction #RIC #MenardFrance

[Project] Menard Asia executed ground improvement works at Kiantar Airport, ensuring the safe extension of the runway to reinforce soft soils and improve overall infrastructure stability. Key Information: 📍 Location: Poto Tano, West Sumbawa Regency, Indonesia ⚙️ Technique: Controlled Modulus Columns (CMC) & Dynamic Compaction (DC) 📅 Year: 2023 🏗️ Ground Conditions: The project site posed significant challenges with varied soil conditions: sandy soils extended up to 8 meters in the southern runway area, transitioning to dense sand beneath. The northern runway area consisted of surface clay layers followed by medium stiff clay. The taxiway and apron had predominantly loose to medium sand conditions. ⚙️ Why CMC & DC? To address these varying soil types, Dynamic Compaction was employed in the southern runway to densify the sandy soils, reducing the risk of liquefaction. Meanwhile, Controlled Modulus Columns were implemented in the northern runway, providing rigid inclusions to mitigate settlement. 📈 Benefits: These ground improvement techniques ensure a stable foundation for the long-term durability of the project and reduce settlement risks. Additionally, this will support the stability of the runway, taxiway, and apron areas.
