A 100% reliable test for Staphylococcal Penicillinase detection published at the RICAI. The results from the Pr. Frédéric Laurent’s team (National Reference Center for Staphylococci) show that the MOLSID biotracer has demonstrated 100% sensitivity and specificity for the detection of beta-lactamase activity, both in S. aureus and in other staphylococcal species encountered in clinical practice, whatever the beta-lactamase type. This is the only reliable tool today that would enable clinicians, in the event of a negative result, to de-escalate the treatment of mild staphylococcal infections to penicillin A without adding clavulanic acid, and thus considerably reduce the selective pressure associated with the excessive use of this broad-spectrum combination in orally-treated staphylococcal infections. #Molsid #Innovation #Diagnostics #AntimicrobialResistance #AMR #PublicHealth
