Paving the way for patient engagement.

À propos

Since 2011, we have been a passionate pioneering health tech company committed to driving the healthcare (r)evolution and improving patients’ lives. We work with healthcare stakeholders that aim to create value at every step of the patient journey: industrial companies, healthcare facilities, healthcare professionals, and patient organizations. As a European reference, we help companies to develop personalized, intelligent patient engagement and support solutions, and to define and implement patient strategies. We have created a new generation of evidence-based tools to support efficient patient behavioral change and improve the user experience. d.tells™, our smart engine for personalizing patient solutions, is powered by SPUR™, our behavioral diagnostic tool, and OPC™, our digital cloud platform that supports client’s developments. Our products are anchored in the behavioral sciences and driven by artificial intelligence, two critical pillars that promote effective personalization. These tools successfully help patients to overcome behavioral challenges, such as treatment non-adherence, and deliver clinically measurable results. Observia has been created in 2011 by three founders. After 3 years in Paris Biotech Santé incubator in Cochin hospital, Observia settled in Paris and opened a subsidiary in Shanghai in 2018. In 2021, the company employs more than 50 people and does 60% of its turnover internationally.

[Beyond DTx] As healthcare actors, we are incentivized to always reach for the latest innovation, the newest way of working. But is this the right way to go? The question is particularly relevant regarding Digital Therapeutics, that appear to be the next big thing in the industry.   Between cost management, regulatory compliance, clinical validation and long development cycles, developing a DTx pauses a wide range of operational challenges.   At the same time, they offer measurable clinical outcomes and a new way to treat patients.   So, are they worth the effort, in a healthcare world where budgets are tighter and tighter and time a valuable resource? Do DTx offer the best ROI of digital health?   Let’s look at the bigger picture together in our latest position paper.  Access it through this link: https://lnkd.in/gnRnJh25 What are your views on the opportunity of DTx development?

[Perspectives] Emerging Markets: The Next Big Opportunity for Pharma.   With rising healthcare demand and rapid economic growth, emerging markets present a huge opportunity for pharmaceutical companies. But success in these regions requires more than just market access—it demands a patient-centric approach that ensures treatment initiation, adherence, and long-term impact.   So, how can pharma companies drive sustainable growth while enhancing their reputation and corporate responsibility?   Here are 3 key success factors we have identified, having launched solutions in countries such as Indonesia, Algeria or India.   1. Strategic Expansion: These markets offer high growth potential for premium treatments, but require tailored strategies to address affordability and patient engagement. 2. CSR: Investing in patient support programs builds trust with patients, HCPs, and governments, reinforcing pharma’s role as a healthcare partner. 3. Competitive Advantage: Companies that integrate financial solutions, education, and digital tools into their patient strategies will improve adherence and drive long-term brand loyalty.   A strong patient strategy is the key to unlocking this potential. [Clinical trials] Observia is thrilled to share that Clinical ink is the exclusive provider of the SPUR behavioral diagnostic tool for clinical trials. We are excited to see this unique adherence solution become a valuable asset to improve patient retention and preserve study power. Kevin Dolgin, Observia's Head of R&D and primary developer of SPUR, says: "Clinical ink is one of the most forward-thinking providers of services around clinical trials and their commitment to bring behavioral science into the world of clinical science is proof of this. I strongly believe that thanks to Clinical ink’s initiative, trials will now be more efficient, more precise, and far more patient-centric. At Observia, we look forward to continuing to support Clinical ink with associated behavioral science input while we continue to support our commercial customers post launch". Clinical ink is pleased to announce our exclusive license of SPUR™, an AI-enabled patient engagement and retention tool for predicting clinical trial adherence. SPUR was developed by Observia and is validated by extensive published literature and is currently used in over 40,000 patients across 27 therapeutic areas. Chief Medical Officer Nicholas Alp commented, “Not only does this validated tool help sponsors comply with FDA guidance on lifestyle standardization in certain therapeutic classes such as GLP-1, but it also offers unique insights to investigators, helping them support participant adherence to the protocol. This predicts and reduces the risk of drop out, preserving study power.” Every participant who discontinues study drug, doesn’t follow the protocol, or drops out of a study reduces its statistical power and its credibility. SPUR is a unique adherence solution that offers a validated individual behavioural diagnosis and intervention plan for each participant. The research investigator receives a participant profile, predicting the risk of poor adherence, an analysis of the drivers of that risk, and personalized communication guidance to improve engagement and adherence. SPUR can be further enhanced with the d.tells™ AI engine. d.tells refines the personalization feedback to the participant by adapting the frequency, duration, and tone of the messages and notifications it sends, according to the patient's sociomedical and behavioral data. [Connected Patients] Diabetes is one of the most widespread chronic diseases in the world, and also one with a complex and strict treatment, from frequent insulin shots to a precise diet. That’s why adherence has such a great part to play in its management.   To improve patients’ outcomes and support healthcare professionals, Observia developed for one of its clients a hybrid personalized coaching program, dedicated to patients living with type 2 diabetes in Indonesia.   Powered by SPUR and implemented in a local call-center, this program helped nurses give the right information to patients, according to their needs and concerns.   Better informed, patients became more engaged in their care plan and more adherent to their treatment. Discover all the figures of this project in our new series, Connected Patients.

[Hello 2025] A new year always sparks reflection on what will be coming in the coming months. Here's a glimpse at what Observia has in mind... Healthcare is changing, and digital transformation is putting patients at the heart of care. Technology becomes a way to make care more personal, accessible and impactful; to build a new relationship between patients and their care journey. With tools like AI-powered analytics, healthcare providers can intervene at the right time. Mobile apps and patient portals make it easier for people to stay informed and engaged. Beyond physical health, there’s a growing focus on mental well-being, driven by behavioral and social factors. Digital tools are now breaking down barriers to a holistic approach of the patient. We’re proud to support these changes and help shape a future where healthcare works better for everyone. In 2025, our wish is to keep building a patient-first, innovative future—with you. Happy New Year from our whole team!
