Are you a student or a graduate in a nuclear-related field? 👩🎓👨🎓 The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency wants to hear from you 🗣️ The NEA Global Forum on Nuclear Education, Science, Technology and Policy has developed a qualitative 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆 to explore how and why individuals decide to join the nuclear field and how their experiences impact decisions to stay in or leave the sector. ⚛️ ➡️ This survey is intended for anyone who is currently a student in the nuclear field or has graduated in the last 20 years. ➡️ The “nuclear field” is defined as nuclear science and engineering and related areas of science, technology, law, policy, and education. ➡️ The responses are anonymous and will be used to formulate recommendations for making the nuclear field more welcoming to students from all backgrounds. 📅 The survey is open until 31 December 2024. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gv4Qgq-f
À propos
NEA membership consists of 34 countries representing 82% of the world's installed nuclear electricity generating capacity. The mission of the NEA is to assist its member countries in maintaining and further developing, through international co-operation, the scientific, technological and legal bases required for a safe, environmentally sound and economical use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. It strives to provide authoritative assessments and to forge common understandings on key issues as input to government decisions on nuclear energy policy and to broader OECD analyses in areas such as energy and the sustainable development of low-carbon economies. The information, data and analyses it provides draw on one of the best international networks of technical experts.

Celebrating the achievements of the NEST Fellows at the awards ceremony 🏆 Since the launch in 2019, the NEA Nuclear Education, Skills and Technology (NEST) Framework has offered more than 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ fellowships to students and young professionals. To recognise and highlight NEST Fellows who have demonstrated excellence throughout their fellowship, the NEST Awards ceremony invited selected Fellows to Paris to present their work and share their experiences of participating in NEST projects. During their time in Paris, the Fellows also had the opportunity to tour research facilities at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in Saclay, meet engineers developing a new microreactor at NAAREA (Nuclear Abundant Affordable Resourceful Energy for All), and discover the Technical Crisis Centre at Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire (IRSN). ⚛️ NEST fellowships are generally carried out for a period of one to six months in an organisation and country other than that of the Fellow. 🌍 Read more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eKnH-uVQ

New publication 📖 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙉𝙪𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝘽𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙 🏗️ Realising the full contribution of #nuclear energy to achieving #netzero targets requires mastering the challenge of financing and constructing significant numbers of new reactors. This new OECD Nuclear Energy Agency report shows that this entails treating the financing and the management of new nuclear construction projects as interrelated issues in the framework of electricity systems designs appropriate for the low-carbon energy transition. ⚡ “Hybrid markets” will thus combine competitive short-term dispatch with centrally co-ordinated incentives for long-term investment. The benefits of #nuclearenergy at the level of the energy system on the one hand and the current size of nuclear construction risk on the other both argue for sharing construction risk with either taxpayers or electricity consumers. Fairness requires that benefits and responsibilities be shared equally. New forms of co-operation between the public and private sectors will thus need to ensure that effective leadership, independent project advisory and coherent incentive structures lead to the efficient construction of new nuclear capacity, which in the majority of OECD - OCDE countries will be part of the low-carbon energy infrastructure of the future. 🚧⚛️ Read the report online ➡️ https://lnkd.in/egQrY3pw
