[Trevor Paglen] 🔍 In 'Adversarially Evolved Hallucinations', Trevor Paglen pushes the boundaries of AI, showing how machines see the world. Using GAN models (Generative Adversarial Networks), the artist explores how AI misinterprets the world due to biases in its training data. Traditionally AI identifies objects literally but Trevor Paglen teaches machines to interpret images with the depth and complexity of human perception, blending art, philosophy, and culture. This challenges the idea that machines see like humans, inviting us to reflect on how memory, culture, and personal experience shape our vision. Can AI ever truly understand images like we do? - Artwork showcased in Digital sector of Paris Photo 2024 by LOUISE ALEXANDER / FELLOWSHIP | Sector curated by Nina Roehrs - Image: Gregoire Grange #AIArt #DigitalArt #Photography #TrevorPaglen #GenerativeArt #Art #Photography #Parisphotofair #Photography #BeyondPhotography

[Lorraine O’Grady] Last week, Lorraine O’Grady, an American artist, critic, and performer of Jamaican descent, known for her 1980s conceptual #art and #photography, passed away. Committed to issues of #identity, #race, and #feminism, she used her art to challenge the exclusion of #minorities in the art world. This commitment is powerfully reflected in 'Miscegenated Family Album' (1980–1994), a series of diptychs that draw poignant parallels between her family and ancient Egyptian figures, exploring themes of connection and heritage. Decades later, she examined the construction of identities in 'Announcement of a New Persona '(2020), further expanding her exploration of self and societal roles. All our thoughts are with her family and friends. - Image: Gregoire Grange, Mariane Ibrahim Gallery booth - Paris Photo 2024 © All Courtesy of the artist and Mariane Ibrahim (Chicago, Paris, and Mexico City) © 2023 Lorraine O’Grady / Artist Rights Society (ARS), New York #LorraineOGrady
