🎉 Congratulations to one of our co-founders, Johannes Schachenmayer, on this incredible achievement! We are proud to celebrate your contribution to quantum and innovation. Johannes's expertise in numerical methods, particularly his implementation of Matrix Product States (#MPS) into #MIMIQ, has been instrumental in advancing the field of quantum simulations. 👏👏👏 The CESQ is very proud to announce that Johannes Schachenmayer was granted the European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant #ERCCoG for his project MATHLOCCA: Many-body Theory of Local Chemistry in Cavities. The project will develop a quantum optics theory to uncover new emergent #quantum many-body physics in minimal molecular models with coupled electronic, nuclear, and photonic degrees of freedom. The theory approach is based on the #physics of cavity-modified dark states, and takes strong quantum correlations into account, which may play a decisive role in our understanding of cavity-modified #chemistry. Gaining a detailed understanding will open up possibilities of systematically using cavity fields as new types of “catalysts” and will also introduce new numerical theories for general open quantum many-body simulations. Johannes has joined the CESQ in 2016 as CNRS Chargé de Recherche where he is currently leading research on computational quantum many-body theory. He is also co-founder of the start-up company QPerfect. Congratulations Johannes! 📢 New Blog Alert https://lnkd.in/efjgMKEn 🌌 Scaling Quantum Optimization: Benchmarking VQE with MIMIQ 🌌 Complex optimization challenges in fields like drug discovery, finance, and logistics are prime candidates for quantum computing. Traditional computers face limitations as problem sizes grow, but Variational Quantum Algorithms (VQAs) offer a promising quantum-based approach. 🔍 Why VQE Matters: The Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE), a hybrid quantum-classical algorithm, identifies the lowest energy state of a quantum system. This process, crucial for quantum chemistry and optimization, leverages quantum circuits and classical feedback loops to refine solutions iteratively. 💡 Scaling Quantum Simulation with #MIMIQ: QPerfect's quantum emulator, MIMIQ, pushes the boundaries of scalability, simulating variational circuits for up to 100 qubits with high fidelity—an essential step toward demonstrating quantum advantage. 🔑 Simulation Engines in MIMIQ: State Vector: Ideal for small circuits (up to ~20 qubits), providing exact solutions with full quantum state representation. Matrix Product States (MPS): Designed for larger circuits, balancing accuracy and efficiency by compressing quantum states and scaling to 100 qubits. 📊 Benchmark Insights: MIMIQ’s State Vector excels for small systems but transitions to MPS for larger simulations. Fidelity vs. Scalability: By adjusting the MPS bond dimension, users can fine-tune accuracy and runtime, achieving near-exact results for up to 60 qubits and approximate solutions for 100 qubits. 🚀 Key Takeaway: MIMIQ empowers researchers and industries to explore quantum optimization at unprecedented scales, paving the way for impactful applications in quantum chemistry, logistics, and beyond.
