Quiet-Oceans Joins the CLS Group (Collecte Localisation Satellites) We are pleased to announce our integration into the CLS Group (Collecte Localisation Satellites), a mission-driven company, delivering space-based solutions to study and protect the planet while managing its resources sustainably. Together, we are strengthening our shared commitment to protecting marine biodiversity and reducing underwater noise pollution. For almost 15 years, we have been supporting industries with environmental impact studies for innovative maritime projects, while ensuring the preservation of marine ecosystems. This collaboration with CLS will allow us to expand our reach and develop even more impactful solutions for ocean preservation. Who is the CLS group? Founded in 1986, CLS is a subsidiary of the Centre National d'Études Spatiales and the CNP, and a key player in Earth Observation and sustainable resource management. With a presence in 34 locations worldwide, CLS has been committed for nearly 40 years to protecting marine and terrestrial ecosystems through innovative technological solutions, such as the #Argos services, which have enabled the tracking and protection of over 400,000 animals since the 1980s. We look forward to building a sustainable future for our oceans together. Special thanks go to Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique, Technopôle Brest-Iroise and IMT Atlantique for their support since the earliest days of Quiet-Oceans. #sustainability #tech4good #quietocean #wildlifepreservation #underwaternoise

Northern Adriatic Sea was under remarkable sound pressure conditions during 2020 from shipping and fishery-generated noise. If you want to know more about the pressure sound indices that were computed for two ecologically significant areas, you can read our latest scientific article in collaboration with the partners of the Interreg Soundscape project: https://lnkd.in/eXjupzzm

Towards the accurate assessment of the underwater noise impact of floating wind farms How to represent the invisible marine pollution that is underwater noise, a major threat to marine species? Underwater noise mapping is the solution that Quiet-Oceans have developed and brought to the highest standard in the World by connecting SHOM’s HYCOM3D coastal oceanographic model with Quiet-Oceans’ Quonops noise mapping platform. To offer the highest quality of underwater noise modelling in coastal areas, Quiet-Oceans and SHOM are joining forces in the Coastal Ocean Noise Service project with the support of Copernicus Marine Service. This project is based on the integration of the HYCOM3D oceanographic model output provided by SHOM into the noise modelling platform Quonops© operated by Quiet-Oceans. The Mediterranean HYCOM3D regional configuration describe physical processes that take place in coastal zones (e.g. as tidal fronts, fluvial plume, tides and internal waves, upwellings and mixed layer dynamics, etc.), notably by considering the tide and river inputs. This configuration allows to model with high resolution the currents, temperature and salinity distributions. This configuration provides hourly temporal frequency and a high spatial resolution up to 1.8 km. Coastal marine habitats will therefore be better protected from underwater noise pollution This Use Case is funded by the Copernicus Marine Service User Engagement Programme 2022-2028. After Fos-sur-Mer (France), the SmartURN buoy has been successfully deployed offshore Genova harbour (Italy). As per the Fos-sur-mer campaign, we expect to measure the sound introduced into the marine environment for 150 vessels per month. This is an achievement of the PIAQUO project funded by the LIFE Programme. Congratulations to Quiet-Oceans team and thank you for the support of University of Genoa and Drafinsub . SmartURN is a key technology to implement International Maritime Organization recently published guidelines to reduced underwater sound from shipping. https://lnkd.in/es53sacr #marinebiodiversity #underwatertechnology #noisepollution
