Félicitations à EDF et à toutes les équipes qui ont œuvré pour le démarrage et le couplage du réacteur Flamanville 3 ! #REEL
The Flamanville EPR produces its first electrons ! Today, saturday 21th of december at 11h48, the Flamanville EPR has been connected to the national electricity grid for the first time and produces its firts electrons. This is an historical moment for the entire French nuclear industry. The last reactor’s commissioning in France was 25 years ago, with “Civaux 2”. I would like to salute the thousands of people mobilized on this construction since the first day as well as Grégory Heinfling, director of Flamanville 3, in charge of this commissioning and Alain Morvan, last director of the project. These men and women were able to meet the challenges encountered during this project with the greatest tenacity, without ever compromising on safety. Today we are reaching a relevant milestone, even if the first reactor’s commissioning is a long and complex operation. The test phases will continue until next summer, in close collaboration with the Nuclear Safety Authority. They will be marked by different power levels passages, shutdowns and restarts of the reactor, essential to guarantee the EPR’s exploitation at the highest level of reliability. The electric revolution is on tracks and we will be able to count on the power of this 57th nuclear reactor, alongside all of our low-carbon production !
