⏲️ Today marks the deadline for countries to submit new and updated NDCs under the Paris Agreement’s ratchet up mechanism. 👉UNFCCC Executive Secretary Simon Stiell recently indicated that countries have until September to submit their climate plans in time for inclusion in the NDC Synthesis Report ahead of COP30. 🗝️This is a critical opportunity for countries to step up and raise their climate ambition by submitting bold, transformative action plans. Renewable energy must be prominent in the NDCs as they are not just essential for climate mitigation and adaptation; they also drive economic development and enhance resilience. Strong commitments to renewables send strong political signals that will unlock investments. Realising the value for their economies and citizens, major economies like Brazil and the UK have already stepped up. Other countries must follow suit. Delivering ambitious NDCs with strong renewable energy plans is a win and win for countries and global cooperation. So how can countries seize the opportunity? Renewable energy plans in NDCs should comprise: 🔹 Ambitious and mandatory commitments for the deployment of renewables; 🔹 Renewable energy consumption targets that are implemented economy wide and for all key energy consuming sectors like industry, transport, agriculture, and buildings; 🔹 Scale up infrastructure for grid modernization and storage. 📖 Read more about how renewables can be used as a pivotal opportunity to scale up renewable energy investments, supporting both mitigation and adaptation strategies to strengthen global resilience through our three strategic intelligence briefs on climate, economic and social & societal resilience here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gx3dUn2s #RenewablesNow #RenewablesBasedEconomy #ClimateResilience #NowDeliverChange

Wrapping up the Global RENdez-vous Dialogue Series with its third session this week on Renewables for Economic Resilience! "Renewable energy is an economic imperative." As economies face growing shocks from climate change, geopolitical instability, and energy price volatility, renewables provide the pathway to stability, job creation, and long-term economic security. Watch the session here: https://lnkd.in/gfpkVmuc 🔑 Key takeaways from our expert panel: ✅ Renewables foster resilient economies by reducing dependence on fossil fuel imports, lowering energy costs, and driving local job creation. ✅ A renewables-based economy is a competitive economy. Businesses are embracing renewables because they make economic sense, offering cost savings, stability, and access to global markets. ✅ Strong policies & investment are essential. Governments must prioritise renewable energy financing, infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks to accelerate the transition. ✅ Communities & cities are key drivers. From Africa to Latin America, renewables are already powering sustainable housing, resilient urban planning, and energy access solutions tailored to local needs. ✅ An equitable transition is non-negotiable. Public participation, social protections, and inclusive policies must be at the core of the transition to ensure no one is left behind. Now is the time for bold action. Investing in renewables is not just about energy—it’s about sustainable value chains, resilience, equity, and a future-proof global economy. A big thank you to our expert panelists for sharing their insights, Sam Kimmins, Sofía Martínez, Brian Motherway, Nasra Nanda and to our Executive Director, Rana Adib, for moderating! #GlobalRENdezvous #RenewablesNow #EconomicResilience #RenewablesBasedEconomy #FastAndFairTransition
