After introducing the R90 certification in Kaimann's previous post, they now explain how it is tested: 𝟭. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: Kaimann's insulation is applied to pipe systems made from various materials, just as it would be in real-life installations. For example, the insulated pipes pass through a solid wall. The entire assembly is then placed into a test furnace. 𝟮. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: During the test, the furnace is heated to over 1,000 degrees Celsius, simulating the conditions of a real fire. The insulation is exposed to this heat for a minimum of 90 minutes. 𝟯. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱: Throughout the test, several criteria are carefully monitored: - 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: How effectively does the insulation protect the unexposed side from heat? - 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴Does the insulation prevent the spread of flames and smoke to the unexposed side? - 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Does the insulation remain securely in place despite extreme heat? He then joined the application techniques department where he helped set up a dedicated technical insulation support team.
