🚀 After an insightful panel in Cairo with the participation of Stéphanie de Labriolle discussing the significance of open standards for DPI interoperability, notably #OSIA, the Secure Identity Alliance is heading East! 🌏 Our first stop is Identity Week in Singapore where Vincent Gourmelen and Tunji D. spoke yesterday and today on the critical role of secure document design as trusted anchors of identity in the digital age, tackling challenges like digital identity theft and quantum-resilient security. 📍 Our journey concludes in Tokyo this Friday for the https://sidi-hub.community 4th Regional Summit this year, hosted by the Japanese government. Digital identity experts will gather to define cross-border interoperability. Exciting times ahead for the future of secure digital identities! #DPI #DigitalIdentity #Interoperability #IdentityWeek #SecureDocuments #QuantumSecurity #SIDIHubSummit #AsiaPacific #OSIA

On ID-Day (September 16th), the Secure Identity Alliance was invited to join Nigeria's celebration of the occasion. With over 40,000 experts across 190 countries, the Secure Identity Alliance and its Members are key partners for governments worldwide in issuing IDs and developing interoperable, secure, inclusive, and privacy-respecting identity systems and credentials that facilitate seamless digital and physical transactions across the globe. It was an opportunity to remind the critical role played by Governments in enrolling citizens and issuing documents and credentials. To do so interoperability between the different building blocks that constitute the Government identity system is essential, and OSIA facilitates this. We thanked Nigeria for chairing the Government and Academic Advisory Committee of OSIA since its inception in 2018. OSIA is now an International Telecommunication Union standard (x.1281). As we were discussing trust frameworks and data exchange, we reminded the importance to use international standards for cross-border interoperability in Africa and beyond. We reminded the key role played by SIDI HUB (https://lnkd.in/ecqtM5ry), the global community where governments, NGOs, standards bodies, private entities, multilaterals and academic organizations collaborate following a shared roadmap to achieve cross-border interoperability for digital identity. The future of identity systems lies in decentralization and interconnectedness. No single model will dominate; instead, networks of networks will emerge, making interoperability and collaboration essential. We encouraged Nigeria to continue its involvement in this important work. Happy ID Day! www.osia.io www.sidi-hub.community NIMC NIGERIA

Joachim CAILLOSSE represented the Document Security Working Group of the Secure Identity Alliance, moderating a panel on “Innovation for National ID” at Identity Week. The panelists shared insights on innovations in the ID sector and including the following topics: The new civil-criminal ABIS system implemented by the IT and Development Centre at the Estonian Ministry of the Interior (SMIT). Estonia, a very advanced country, will continue to rely on its mandatory #eIDcard as a strong foundation for its national digital ID scheme. Kaija Kirch In Norway, a digital wallet for third-country skilled workers is being piloted by the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI). This project emphasizes the importance of including international residents well before they physically enter the host country. Vibeke Holm Digital signature (eIDAS qualified) and digital ID projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA BiH). Almir Badnjevic It was a very interesting. Thank you to the panelists for this exchange!

ID4Africa 2024, Cape Town An intense week of knowledge sharing and networking with governments, multilaterals, and industry representatives at ID4Africa last week. It was the perfect place to connect with our members and partners across Africa. Secure Identity Alliance Representatives were proud to contribute their insights at several workshops and meetings on: - **DPI Safeguards and Procurement Good Practices** with UNDP - **Cybersecurity** with The World Bank - **Inclusion of Displaced People** with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency As the #DigitalPublicInfrastructure (DPI) agenda gains global momentum, the importance of elevating #digitalidentity to the highest level (cannot agree more with TBI Yiannis’ recommendations – (https://lnkd.in/ddQwYFmV) and establishing its foundation in #legalidentity is more crucial than ever. This underlines the essential link between #digitalID and #civilregistry. On the technical side, this link is facilitated through international standards like #OSIA. We celebrated the ITU's recognition of #OSIA as an international standard (X.1281) with our community of government and industry players.
