At the recent Full FX conference in London, industry experts examined the critical role of Single-Dealer Platforms (SDPs) in the evolving financial landscape, where bilateral trading and dealer competition are on the rise. SDPs serve as a bank’s digital storefront, offering tailored interfaces that go beyond pricing to include unique value-added services like analytics and AI-driven support. While Multi-Bank Platforms (MBPs) provide convenience for price comparisons, they often come with hidden costs and lack the customization needed for complex client needs. Banks face the challenge of balancing their presence on MBPs while leveraging SDPs to build deeper client relationships through specialized products and personalized experiences. The integration of AI enhances these interactions, allowing banks to anticipate client needs and deliver market insights. Regional banks can particularly benefit from SDPs to elevate their offerings and compete with larger institutions. John Stead, Director of Sales Enablement and Marketing shared his insights highlighting the strategy of white labeling, where top-tier banks extend their SDP infrastructure to smaller banks, fostering collaboration and expanding market reach. Ultimately, SDPs are essential for banks aiming to differentiate themselves, maintain profitability, and drive growth in a dynamic FX market. SmartTrade commits to providing cutting-edge SDP solutions that empower banks to navigate these complexities effectively. 'My journey at smartTrade has taught me a valuable lesson: the most effective solutions are often the simplest.' says Nicolas Ciaravola, Head of Engineering at smartTrade. In the October edition of smartInsights, we invited Nicolas to share his perspective on the re-evaluation of Large AI Models and the exploration of smaller and specialized models. He advocates for a shift from large, generalized AI models to smaller, specialized models in fintech, as they provide precise, agile, and efficient performance tailored to critical environments like front-office trading, where every microsecond counts. In fintech, performance is essential, but so are response quality and security. Smaller, fine-tuned models excel in delivering precise, context-specific outputs and are more naturally suited to meet these stringent demands. Nicolas also emphasizes the importance of orchestrating these specialized models to work cohesively, unlocking their potential to deliver advanced, responsive, and scalable solutions that meet the complex needs of financial markets. Looking forward, smartTrade will explore how this orchestration can drive innovation in AI-powered financial systems, creating a new generation of solutions that bring both precision and agility to the forefront of decision-making—enabling institutions to thrive in an increasingly fast-paced and complex market. At the 2024 BAFT Regional Bank Conference in Chicago, smartTrade joined industry experts to discuss pressing issues and strategies shaping the future of regional banking. The event, focused on institutions with assets under $250 billion, brought together global participants to explore solutions in FX, payments, trade finance, and regulatory concerns. smartTrade's Director of Payments, Chris Gibson, shared insights on a panel about the evolving payments landscape alongside leaders from StoneX and The Clearing House. Read the full article: https://hubs.la/Q02VRf3x0 Key topics included the impact of fintech competitors, the need to preserve institutional knowledge, and challenges in maintaining efficient payment and FX supply chains. Attendees examined strategies to modernize technology, streamline processes, and adapt to changes such as ISO 20022, instant payments, and open banking. Regional banks emphasized their unique strengths: local expertise, trust, and personalized service, which positions them distinctively against national banks and fintechs. smartTrade’s Commercial Banking and Payments platform offers regional banks advanced capabilities to meet evolving client demands, providing seamless integration for payment and FX services that support the ISO-20022 transition. Aligned with the needs of regional institutions, we remain dedicated to empowering banks with the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly complex financial environment.

This week, 26 of our smartTrade runners lined up at the starting line of the Cabro d’Or race, a road running event that brought together more than 1,000 people in the charming village of Cabries, between Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. Different formats were offered: 5 km, 6.5 km, 10 km, and 15 km, with our team members participating in their favorite distances. The event was organized by the Olympique Cabriès Calas (OCC) multisport club and designed by the OCC Athlétisme section, with our participation sponsored by the smartTrade Club. As part of Pink October, a portion of the race proceeds were donated to cancer research. To mark the occasion, we also donated to the Institut Paoli-Calmettes, a cancer research and treatment center in Marseille that has made a difference since 1923. Thanks to our great team spirit, we supported a cause that’s dear to us and won the “Challenge Entreprise,” which recognizes companies based on the number of runners and their performance. Well done, team! We’re thrilled to have been part of this event and can’t wait for more opportunities to combine our passion for competition with supporting important causes, all while proudly representing smartTrade!

Regional banks face significant challenges in competing with larger banks, fintechs, and FX brokers for FX revenue. While large banks dominate the market, smaller institutions can leverage their strengths—such as local knowledge, strong client relationships, and flexibility—to succeed. However, they face hurdles like high nostro account costs, technology investments, staffing needs, and increasing regulatory burdens. In this CBP edition of smartInsights, our Director of Payments and Sales Enablement, Chris Gibson, points out that in order to grow their FX capabilities, regional banks should adopt tactics like saying "yes" more often to client demands, capturing low-hanging FX revenue opportunities, and simplifying processes for both staff and clients. Digitalization, partnerships with liquidity providers, and offering value-added services like FX risk management are critical strategies to enhance their competitive edge. By focusing on key client segments, such as SMEs, commercial, wealth, and institutional clients, banks can tailor their offerings to match different needs and unlock significant revenue potential. Read the full article: https://hubs.la/Q02RZH5Y0 smartTrade's CBP (Commercial Banking & Payments) platform supports regional banks by offering integrated FX and payment solutions, helping them stay competitive in this dynamic market.
