SWITCH2CE’s recent mission to #Egypt was a milestone in advancing circularity in the ICT & electronics sector! Over a dynamic and productive week, we engaged in key discussions, policy development, and field visits to accelerate Egypt’s transition towards a circular economy. 🔹 Launching the National Advisory Committee in Egypt: We convened the 1st National Advisory Committee Meeting at the @Ministry of Industry Egypt, bringing together government representatives, private sector leaders, and international partners. Discussions focused on expanding stakeholder engagement in policy dialogue; strengthening technical expertise in refurbishment & traceability; addressing import and security considerations; and differentiating licenses for collectors & recyclers’ alignment with Egypt’s National Circular Economy Roadmap (MoE) 🔹 Advancing Circular Electronics Policy Development: With @ERI and Chatham House Environment and Society, we hosted the Circular Electronics Policy Development in Egypt workshop, exploring policy frameworks and strategies for a sustainable electronics industry. 🔹 Strengthening Partnerships for Circular Transition: We had the privilege of meeting @ H.E. Mrs. Riikka Eela, Ambassador Embassy of Finland in Cairo, to discuss Finland’s co-funding role in SWITCH2CE and its support for circular economy initiatives in Egypt. Key highlights from the discussion was the successful collaboration with Orange Egypt and Nokia in piloting a telecommunications equipment refurbishment facility; the role of advanced recycling solutions in circular economy efforts, and the need for regulatory support to develop a market for refurbished electronics 🔹 Field Visit to DSV - Global Transport and Logistics Repair Center:  A key highlight was visiting the DSV Repair Center, operating under the One Circle pilot with Orange Egypt, Nokia, Sofrecom, and CORDON GROUP. This facility repairs & refurbishes telecommunication modules, while helping to reduce e-waste; extends product lifecycles through local repair expertise, and reduces reliance on international repair hubs, boosting Egypt’s circular economy.   ✨ What’s Next?
