Innovation is not an option; it is a necessity for the defence solutions of tomorrow.   In my recent interview with McKinsey & Company, we discussed the crucial importance of innovation at Thales and in the defence sector. [PRESS RELEASE] Thales in the UK has been awarded a major contract by the UK Ministry of Defence to provide 24/7 enhanced global technical support services for 50+ communications systems on 40+ ships, submarines and shore bases for the next 10 years. The contract will also see a significant targeted investment in sustaining systems most in need to ensure on going availability. After seven years of trusted partnership, this contract, one of the largest in naval communications in Europe, marks a significant step for the Royal Navy to ensure continuous and agile communications to support operational capability and availability at sea.
