#FRPT24 Recap⚡ Our team are all back from this year's FLASH Radiotherapy & Particle Therapy - FRPT Conference in Rome, making now the perfect time for us to reflect on #FRPT24. It was a pleasure to meet with the international #FLASH community at what was a very busy event for our booth. A notable feature of this year's event was the strong representation from North America. It is encouraging to see the potential for collaborations between Europe, the United States, and Canada to contribute to the development of FLASH toward clinical applications. On the third and final day of the conference, the "FLASH Clinical Program in Villejuif" was presented by Antonin Levy from Gustave Roussy. Dr Levy presented the FLASH-CARE platform, to be equipped with two major clinical devices: FLASHKNiFE (since 2023) and FLASHDEEP. This initiative will serve as a foundation for the radiotherapy department's research into FLASH, as well as its future clinical application. As our final congress of the year comes to an end marking 10 years of research into FLASH, we are as excited as ever to see what we will accomplish over the next decade and where #FLASHRadiotherapy will be in 2034!

Together with his team, Prof. Vincent Favaudon kickstarted the past 10 years of FLASH, with this unique method gaining momentum year after year. As long-term collaborators with Prof. Favaudon, we were thrilled to have to present him with an award commemorating his contribution to the field. Looking towards the future, it was interesting to hear Prof. Favaudon present an overview of the understanding we have of the various underlying biological mechanisms involved in FLASH, as well as his thoughts on potential applications of Very High Energy Electrons for deeper beam penetration. “FLASH radiation therapy in an upright position offers patients significant advantages, both physically and emotionally: it reduces side effects, minimizes the need for multiple hospital visits, and alleviates anxiety by providing a more comfortable treatment experience." Radiotherapy has improved significantly in precision and efficiency since its first uses, and year after year, innovative technology and unconventional thinking continue to push its boundaries and redefine its possibilities." Delivery over several sessions, or "fractions", with patients lying on their backs remains the standard practice for the vast majority of radiotherapy treatments. While this approach is designed to reach the highest achievable level of tumor control, studies into the psychological effect of radiotherapy have shown that patient experience can still be improved. The parallel development of FLASH Radiotherapy by THERYQ and Upright Patient Positioning by Leo Cancer Care marks a significant step toward a more human-centric approach to cancer treatment. This shared vision forms the foundation of the FLASHDEEP project, combining both companies' technologies to create more patient-focused cancer care.
