Magnesite/magnesia are 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 for the 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 and play an strategic and indispensable role in Europe's Green Transition: 🔷 Magnesite/magnesia are indispensable in the 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 of over 50% of Strategic raw materials and over 30% of all critical raw materials. Materials needed for the green transition such as copper, titanium, or nickel cannot be processed without magnesia. 🔷 Magnesite/magnesia is used in over 100 applications in a 𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 to 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗴𝘆 and 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴. It is an essential raw material even for batteries, heating elements, transformers and C02 absorbers and catalysts, rendering them irreplaceable for the European industry. 🔷 Magnesia's unique properties make it indispensable 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and essential for producing key materials like steel, cement, ceramics, glass and even components for renewable energy technologies. 🔷 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 has unique properties and is well-positioned to meet the demands of these diverse applications. Most importantly, 75% of the world steel production relies on European magnesite for its transformation towards green steel by using Electric Are Furnaces. 🔷Even one of the scarcest Strategic raw materials in Europe - magnesium metal, essential for the aerospace and defense industry - can be derived from magnesite and magnesia, which is the only viable way of producing this metal in Europe at a fraction of the C02-footprint elsewhere in the world. 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲, 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. As a reminder, nearly 80% of the world's magnesite deposits are located in China, Russia and North Korea. 𝗪𝗲, 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮, 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲'𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀. [ #1 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀! 🐄 ] 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄?🌞 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 in ruminants: the silent enemy Heat stress occurs in ruminants when high temperatures combine with 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀. It can be measured through the Temperature and Humidity Index (THI) which defines better the thermic comfort zone of the animals: ✔️Above a THI of 72, productivity is highly impacted, with reduced feed intake and milk production. ✔️Heat stress also increases the risks of acidosis, infertility and oxidative stress. It also leads to significant changes in the behavior of the ruminants. ✔️ The negative impacts of heat stress on performances last up to 8 days, especially when THI is above 80. For fertility, it can last up to 3 to 5 weeks. 🎯 The key to protecting your animals? They must be placed in a ventilated and shaded environment. At the nutritional level, adapting feed distribution throughout the day can help reduce the heat generated by rumen fermentation. In addition, some nutritional solutions can be essential allies! 🌿 pHix-up combines specially selected sources of magnesium oxide (MgO) to deliver rapid and long-lasting action on rumen pH, ensuring your herd maintains optimal performance, even under heat stress conditions! 📌 In our next post in this series, discover the interest of magnesium & pHix-up in heat stress!
