Engineers, designers, your optical simulation workflows are getting messy! https://lnkd.in/e5q99-b9 The sale of Synopsys Optical Solutions Group to Keysight Technologies, already preceded by Ansys acquisition of Optis (2018), Lumerical (2020), Zemax (2021), and those of Optical Research (2010), RSoft (2012), Phoenix (2018), Light Tec (2020) by Synopsys, followed by that of Ansys by Synopsys in early 2024, 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 reconfigures the optical simulation market. This new change could pose challenges in terms of seamless integration into CAD, by disrupting integrations. For the record : Optis' Speos was integrated with CATIA, then with Ansys' SpaceClaim. It is therefore legitimate to wonder what the next step will be, and whether it will be possible to lock in proprietary ecosystems. This will lead to complexity in workflows and compatibility challenges in data exchange. These obstacles can slow down design cycles and increase companies' dependence on a single supplier, while limiting choice in software and simulation solutions. In contrast, 𝗨𝗩𝗥 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 with various ecosystems, thanks in particular to its integration with platforms such as Unity 3D, Unreal Engine and, soon, NVIDIA's Omniverse. They support the import of 3D models from CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, PTC Creo or Autodesk. We are thrilled to announce that UNITED VISUAL RESEARCHERS has been selected as a beneficiary SME of the 1st Open Call for Advanced Technology Uptake Projects. Through the SILEO Eurocluster project (GA 101074564), we will indirectly receive EUR 10,050 from the European Union's Single Market Programme. Building on the success of our 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲&𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝟭 digital business initiative—which facilitated seamless coordination between bespoke spectral BTDF material measurements and the Predict engine simulation tool—we are now advancing to the next phase with 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲&𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝟮. In this advanced project, we will measure a comprehensive library of generic materials supplied by MATEREAL and integrate these into the Predict engine’s initial material library. This prototyping phase will empower users to simulate environments with physically accurate materials, opening up new possibilities for UNITED VISUAL RESEARCHERS and our clients. Together with MATEREAL, we are curating a selection of standard materials to prepare for both outdoor and indoor simulations. These materials include essential elements like building concrete, road asphalt, sidewalk paving stones, and metal façade cladding. By doing so, we’re setting the stage for highly realistic, generic scene simulations that will enhance our offerings and provide innovative solutions for our clients.
