Shaft misalignment can occur due to many reasons, often leading to major issues if not addressed promptly. Here are some common causes :
• 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 : Improper assembly and installation practices or poor-quality alignment measurements during installation can lead to misalignment.
• 𝗣𝗶𝗽𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 : Stress from connected piping can cause shafts to shift out of alignment.
• 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 : Changes in temperature can cause components to expand or contract, leading to alignment issues.
• 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁 / 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 : Uneven settling of the baseplate and machine feet can distort the machinery’s casing.
• 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 : Torsion during the startup of the machinery or during operation can deform the shaft, again, leading to misalignment.
