Welcome to DEVS*! 😅🔮 Do you know what I mean? (If not, check at the end 😉) It’s clear that our future is brimming with possibilities that will transform the way we approach everything! The era of AI, space, and beyond. Today, we look at a quantum computer! Quantum computing is set to transform so many things, including AI, communications, but also the space economy. Its ability to process massive data at incredible speeds will push AI to tackle complex problems that today’s computers can’t handle. This synergy, often referred to as Quantum AI, can lead to breakthroughs in fields like healthcare, such as faster drug discovery and improved diagnostics. In the space economy, quantum computing could optimise satellite communications and strengthen cybersecurity—pretty important for protecting key space infrastructure. But honestly, what excites me most is how clever entrepreneurs will figure out how to use Quantum AI to come up with solutions and new concepts for the space domain. The economic impact is expected to surpass $1 trillion by 2035, but I can easily see that shooting even higher once we have stable, affordable solutions like cloud quantum computing. We’re talking Star Trek levels now! There’s big promise here, just like with nuclear fusion and space-based solar power. Is Telco Still "cool"? My Take. The telco industry isn’t exactly the “cool kid” on the block these days. Vendors are facing economic challenges as telcos cut Capex, and Opex remains massive. Even on LinkedIn, there’s little excitement about the sector. Just look at the struggles of major Telco vendors, or the cost-saving measures from leading operators. However, I believe a **resurrection** is on the horizon. Here's why: 1. AI NEEDS THE NETWORK. AI isn't just about GPUs or LLMs. Networks—especially wide-area—will be vital as AI workloads shift to the edge (think sovereign AI, GPU farms near end-users). I'm excited to be part of flagship AI Telco networking projects with system integrators and technology innovators. With the future of AI moving toward Q* and goal-seeking intelligence, a more resilient, pervasive networking model will be essential. 2. TELCOS AS CYBER DEFENDERS. Recent PC outages show the need for better security without over-reliance on clients. Telco networks can be the first line of defense. In Asia, I’m consulting on projects embedding SSE, CASB, and Safe DNS into 5G and FTTH networks. 3. NEW BUSINESS MODELS, BETTER ECONOMICS. Consolidation and structural separation are unlocking more specialized NetCos and InfraCos, creating agile, investor-attractive models. I’ve discussed this on LI with industry experts like Dean Bubley and I’m also involved in designing a portfolio of next-gen wholesale services. 4. UNLOCKING VALUE WITH DIGITAL OPERATIONS. Digital twins, AIOps, and automation are set to revolutionize field operations and customer retention. I’m proud to consult with startups and established players on these transformative projects. What I learned at Cisco is the power of Observability and Automation in Telco networks. Now, I’m learning how to combine this with digital field operations in mass-scale data centers and public networks, driving the next wave of efficiency. American tech giant #Nvidia has chosen Taiwan as the location for it’s first R&D center in #Asia. According to #Taiwanese researchers, the government’s proactive recruitment of investment was a significant factor influencing the decision. The new center will reportedly house the biggest supercomputer in #Taiwan and will enable better collaboration between domestic semiconductor manufacturers and those overseas. Nvidia has a history of collaboration with Taiwan, having jointly worked with #TSMC on chip development for #AI.
