Dr. Jihad delivered one of the most profound courses on economics during my undergraduate years. What set him apart was that our discussions transcended textbook theories—they were rooted in real-life experiences and the dynamics of financial wealth. He didn’t just teach us to understand investments; he empowered us to make money work for us. Trade and business, as he emphasized, aren’t just about mitigating risks; they require a sharp focus on competition. You could never leave a session with Dr. Jihad or Prof. Tarek without your mind brimming with new ideas. Prof. Tarek Chemaly has been a virtual mentor to me, and I can’t express enough gratitude to LinkedIn for bringing us together. Transitioning into the world of advertising while being an academic in a different field was no small feat—it required endless research and resourcefulness, especially with limited time and funds. Thankfully, reading has always been one of my passions, and it became my gateway into marketing and advertising. My theoretical foundation comes from books, case studies, and articles in the top journals in the field. Across my various roles, even when I was a junior, there was no guidebook for how to write a compelling copy. I had a solid foundation in language and often found myself correcting the grammar of my superiors, but there’s a stark difference between being a linguist and being a copywriter. A beautiful writing style doesn’t automatically translate into effective copywriting. It took years of practice, experimentation, and refining different strategies before I truly grasped the art of writing copy—learnings I now pass on in the workshops I lead. After 12 years of editorial work, you can imagine the joy of finding insightful content and engaging with someone who has a wealth of experience in the field. I love soaking up valuable insights, and learning from people like Dr. Jihad and Prof. Tarek offers not only access to their wisdom but also to their vast networks. Through Tarek, I came to know Joe, who has been instrumental in revealing copycats in advertising. It’s been a truly enriching journey, and I hope it’s a long one filled with continuous learning. For me, a day without learning something new is a day devoid of meaning. My hope is that one day I’ll be like a tree, full of knowledge, ready to share its fruits with others.
