Chip Shop Wrapping Lyrics
[Chorus]
I said the chip shop, a chippy
The chippy with the cheap, chip shop
And you don't stop the queuing
For the bang, bang mash, I said fried place with haddocks
With chippies and the mushelly peas
I said the chip shop, a chippy
The chippy with the cheap, chip shop
And you don't stop the queuing
For the bang, bang mash, I said fried place with haddocks
With chippies and the mushelly peas
[Verse 1]
When you get to home each day, your stomach feels like grass
You have a wash, and then you say, "I'm starving [?]"
The wife gets up and grabs your coat, she grabs your wallet too
Now come on love, don't have a go
Go get some four for two
[Chorus]
I said the chip shop, a chippy
The chippy with the cheap, chip shop
And you don't stop the queuing
For the bang, bang mash, I said fried place with haddocks
With chippies and the mushelly peas
I said the chip shop, a chippy
The chippy with the cheap, chip shop
And you don't stop the queuing
For the bang, bang mash, I said fried place with haddocks
With chippies and the mushelly peas
I said the chip shop, a chippy
The chippy with the cheap, chip shop
And you don't stop the queuing
For the bang, bang mash, I said fried place with haddocks
With chippies and the mushelly peas

[Verse 2]
She said Jack, "Can you fry?"
"Can you fry me a haddock with chips and fry?"
"Can you wrap 'em too? Thanks, that'll do"
Guess what, you chippies, now we love you
I've had me tea, the tellies bust
I'll walk down to the pub
Me mates are there supping ale
And dollies serving grub
And buying plant, and make a start
It's pickled eggs and it's a stinks
Number two will make you perfect, and put you off your drink
[Chorus]
I said the chip shop, a chippy
The chippy with the cheap, chip shop
And you don't stop the queuing
For the bang, bang mash, I said fried place with haddocks
With chippies and the mushelly peas
[Verse 3]
A pint of bitter the taste is right, a lovely glass of ale
I've got me fans, let's have one Mike
Ooh look, you've run all pale
What do you mean I never buy 'em?
I'm smoking everyday
"Oh yeah" he says, "I know you'll try 'em, one day you'll have to pay"
"It's getting late," the landlord shouts, "time on your glasses please!"
With lager, bitter, and milk stouts
Consumed with [?]
Then someone says, "What's going on? They're scrapping in the loo"
"It's football fans", says Barman John, "let's call the boys in blue"
We all file out into the street and sing through drunken lips
Our nostrils say it's time to eat
Let's get some fish and chips
I said, fish shop, chip shop, steak and kidney pie
"You what?"
Shut up big mouth, just give us some chips
Don't shout, I'll pay you five
Let's get some fish and chips you say
With pie and mushy peas
Then a tramp walks in, you move away, for fear of jumping fleas
You smile and say, "alright there Jack, you like your trendy clothes"
Dressed in rags, with a two-tone mac, and shoes with open toes
I said, fish shop, chip shop, steak and kidney pie
"You what?"
Shut up big mouth, just give us some chips
Don't shout, I'll pay, you fry
She said Jack, "Can you fry?"
"Can you fry me a haddock with chips and fry?"
"Can you wrap 'em too? Thanks, that'll do"

About
Genius Annotation
A quintessential British song, “Chip Shop Wrapping” is a comedy hip-hop song released by two British DJ’s based in the English midlands. The song describes a ‘chippy’, a form of British takeaway store that generally sells chips (aka fries), fish, pies, kebab, nuggets, and related fast foods.
“Chip Shop Wrapping” is one of the first British hip hop songs ever released. Only Ian Dury and the Blockheads – Reasons To Be Cheerful, Pt. 3 (released in 1979) was released before it.
1980 also saw the release of The Mexicano – Dallas, David Baird – Friday Neet (Gannin’ te the toon), and Bo Kool – (Money) No Love, however it’s unclear what month or day they dropped.
