I was always crushin' on the wrong boys
I was always yellin' when I should've been sittin' down
Memories of cigarettes and Polaroids
Kiss you in the kitchen of a house that burned down
I remember waiting on the sunrise
And I'll be ready, waiting 'til you come back around
Come back around, come back around
[Chorus: Avril Lavigne & Mark Hoppus, Avril Lavigne]
All I wanted was you
Let's do whatever it takes
Me and you, we can't lose
I'll take you away from here
From the city that never loved you
From the town I always hated
Me and you, we can't lose (Let's go)
[Post-Chorus: Avril Lavigne]
Woah-oh-oh
Woah-oh-oh
Woah-oh-oh
All that I wanted was you
[Verse 2: Mark Hoppus, Avril Lavigne, Both]
I would always fuck around and find out
You were always saying I would crash down someday
I would have to pass out on my friend's couch
We were up all night, so we slept all day
I remember waitin' on the sunrise
And I'll be right here waitin' 'til you come back around
Come back around, come back around
All I wanted was you
Let's do whatever it takes
Me and you, we can't lose
I'll take you away from here
From the city that never loved you
From the town I always hated
Me and you, we can't lose
[Bridge: Mark Hoppus, Mark Hoppus & Avril Lavigne]
And maybe it was for the best, you used to call me useless
We're floatin' to the nothingness 'cause, after all, the truth is
The only things we leave behind are noise and absolution
I act like everything is fine, but I'm plotting revolution
[Chorus: Avril Lavigne & Mark Hoppus]
All I wanted was you
Let's do whatever it takes
Me and you, we can't lose
I'll take you away from here
From the city that never loved you
From the town I always hated
Me and you, we can't lose
[Post-Chorus: Avril Lavigne]
Woah-oh-oh (I'm with you)
Woah-oh-oh (Win or lose)
Woah-oh-oh
All that I wanted was you
About
“All I Wanted” is a song on Avril Lavigne’s seventh album Love Sux. It features Mark Hoppus of blink-182 with guest vocals.
The first hint of the song was in the music video for Bite Me, where Avril has written song names all over her guitar, one of them being “Mark’s Song”. It was later hinted in a leak in mid January 2022, along with the name of the album.
According to her Spotify Storyline, “Blink-182 is one of my all-time favorite bands. Working and writing with Mark is epic and it was amazing to see his talent in the studio. He’s an incredible songwriter, singer, producer, and performer. Mark’s very intelligent and his voice is so signature. The minute he starts singing you know it’s him.”
