I Can Change Lyrics
[Verse 1]
When your time runs out and you're looking for a place to land
I'll step from the shadow into the palm of your hand
When you're out of luck, I'll be what you're looking for
Even if it's not who I am
When you're out of luck, I'll be what you're looking for
Even if it's not who I am
[Pre-Chorus]
I can change, I can change for you
I can change, I can change for you
[Chorus 1]
I can bend, I can break, I can shift, I can shake
Blaze a trail through the driving rain
Girl, I can change for you, I can change for you
Woo ooh, Woo ooh
Woo ooh, Woo ooh
[Verse 2]
When your time runs out, and you don't know where to stand
I'll step from the shadow, I'm at your command
And when you're looking for change
I'll be what you're looking for
Even if it's not who I am
When your time runs out and you're looking for a place to land
I'll step from the shadow into the palm of your hand
When you're out of luck, I'll be what you're looking for
Even if it's not who I am
When you're out of luck, I'll be what you're looking for
Even if it's not who I am
[Pre-Chorus]
I can change, I can change for you
I can change, I can change for you
[Chorus 1]
I can bend, I can break, I can shift, I can shake
Blaze a trail through the driving rain
Girl, I can change for you, I can change for you
Woo ooh, Woo ooh
Woo ooh, Woo ooh
[Verse 2]
When your time runs out, and you don't know where to stand
I'll step from the shadow, I'm at your command
And when you're looking for change
I'll be what you're looking for
Even if it's not who I am
[Pre-Chorus]
I can change, I can change for you
I can change, I can change for you
[Chorus 2]
I can bend, I can break, I can shift, I can shake
Blaze a trail through the driving rain
Girl, I can change for you
I can slip, I can slide, I can run, I can hide
Blaze a trail through the driving rain
Girl, I can change for you
[Bridge]
I'll be what you're looking for
I'll be what you're looking for
[Pre-Chorus]
I can change, I can change for you
I can change, I can change for you

Woo ooh, I can change, Woo ooh
Oh-wooh, I can change, oh-wooh

Girl, I can change for you
I can change for you
I can change
I'll be what you're looking for
Oh-wooh, oh-wooh, oh-wooh
I can change, I can change for you
I can change, I can change for you
[Chorus 2]
I can bend, I can break, I can shift, I can shake
Blaze a trail through the driving rain
Girl, I can change for you

Girl, I can change for you
I can change for you
I can change
I'll be what you're looking for
Oh-wooh, oh-wooh, oh-wooh
About
Genius Annotation
“I Can Change” was released as the fourth single from Brandon Flowers' second solo album, The Desired Effect, on May 4th, 2015.
The song–a driving declaration of love which sounds like a New Wave song from the 1980s– began life as an unfinished collaboration between Flowers and Swedish house duo Axwell & Ingrosso. When he learned that they weren’t going to use the track, Flowers took it back and amplified the song’s New Wave DNA by directly sampling Bronski Beat’s “Smalltown Boy” both in the intro and the chorus.
