Talking to the Moon Lyrics

[Chorus]
Talkin' to the moon
Tryna get to you
In hopes you're on the other side talkin' to me, too
Or am I a fool who sits alone
Talkin' to the moon?

[Bridge]
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Do you ever hear me callin'?
Oh-oh (Oh-oh-oh), oh-oh (Oh-oh-oh)
Oh-oh

[Chorus]
'Cause every night, I'm talkin' to the moon
Still tryna get to you
In hopes you're on the other side talkin' to me, too
Or am I a fool who sits alone
Talkin' to the moon?
Oh

[Outro]
I know you're somewhere out there, somewhere far away

About

Genius Annotation

Originally included on Bruno’s debut studio EP release It’s Better If You Don’t Understand, “Talking to the Moon” is a jazz power ballad with a stripped-down production — its instrumental is essentially composed of the sounds of drums and piano. This song is essentially about Bruno’s long-distance relationship with a girl.

Bruno confessed that “Talking to the Moon” is his favorite song from the record, commenting it on Sound on Sound:

“Talking To The Moon” is one of my favourite songs on the album. We only had the first verse and the horns, but we knew that it was great. We then had three different bridges and we spent a lot of time trying to find out which one was the best. Jeff Bhasker is a fantastic musician, and he helped write that track. I think we tried to arrange and produce this in four different ways, mostly trying to figure out what kind of drums to put on.
