“Maknae On Top” takes a Latin-influenced production to create the ultimate youngest-boss anthem. It is I.N’s first original song to be featured on Stray Kids‘ YouTube series SKZ-PLAYER. The song mirrors Stray Kids’ 2019 mixtape track “Gone Days” in terms of lyrics, but I.N takes it up one level – not comparing different generations, but rather small age differences within the same generation.
This song aims to break the stereotype that the 막내 (maknae) of the group is the least important or one to be looked down upon. The song features vocals from Stray Kids' leader Bang Chan and main rapper Changbin, both of which are part of the 맏형 (Oldest Brothers) line and also 3RACHA, Stray Kids' producing unit. From this information alone, it is easy to see why the public may overlook I.N as the group’s maknae, however he proves there advantages to his position.
