No Love Dying Lyrics

[Verse 1]
There will be no love that's dying here
The bird that flew in through my window simply lost his way
He broke his wing, I helped him heal, and then he flew away

Well the death of love is everywhere, but I won't let it be
There will be no love that's dying here for me

[Verse 2]
There will be no love that's dying here
The mirror that fell from the wall was raggedy, that's all
It rest upon a rusty nail, before it made its fall
Well the bones of love are everywhere, but I won't let it be
There will be no love that's dying here for me

[Verse 3]
There will be no love that's dying here
Four flowers in my Asian vase is not a sign we're dead
I paid for three, a sweet old lady gave me four instead

There's some doubt that's out about this love, but I won't let it be
There will be no love that's dying here for me

[Verse 4]
There will be no love that's dying here
The bird that flew in through my window simply lost his way
He broke his wings, I helped him heal, and then he flew away
Well the death of love is everywhere, but I won't let it be
There will be no love that's dying here for me
No, there will be no love that's dying for me
There will be no love that's dying for you and me
Oh, there will be no love dying here
No, not for me
There will be no love that's dying here
No, there will be no love that's dying here
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
There will be no love dying for me

Genius Annotation

In an interview with Sennheiser after a show in Biarritz, France, Porter tells: “No Love Dying” is first and foremost a romantic song, but it is also a critique of all forms of negativity, such as hate.

He explains some of the inspiration behind the song and whom the song is dedicated to in a self-published interview from his YouTube channel, saying,

It’s also a thought about the sometimes-hopeless young men sometimes that I see in my neighborhood in Brooklyn, Bed-Stuy. And, uh, it’s just a hopeful message to them. … So it means, ‘no love dying’ in a whole bunch of different ways: in a romantic way and in a universal way.

The song comes from the words of wisdom of his mother. Although she died before she could see her son’s international succes, she remains the biggest influence on Gregory Porter’s life.
