The song interpolates Britney Spears' 2000 song “Lucky”

Halsey has said many times how much growing up with the music of the 90’s and 2000’s has influenced her. She has collaborated with other artists she loved growing up such as Bring Me the Horizon with Experiment on Me and ¿. Nine Inch Nails produced her 4th studio album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power

With the rise of social media and technology in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, celebrities only became bigger. Any problem a celebrity had or speculation the media had became public to all. Britney was one of the most popular singers of this time period which meant she never got a moment’s rest from the paparazzi.

As Halsey has grown in fame, she has only garnered more attention. She had her own headlined tour for her first studio album Badlands with The Badlands Tour. The tour lasted from September 2015 – September 2016 and sold out Madison Square Garden in NYC.

She shot to stardom with her Summer 2016 collaboration “Closer” with the Chainsmokers which broke the record for most weeks in the Billboard Top 5 and was in the Top 40 for an entire year.

Her relationship with famous rapper G-Eazy became heavily publicized especially after he was caught cheating. Her most famous single became the 2018 “Without Me,” detailing her thoughts on the break-up with Gerald. It was originally a one-off single which became part of her third album Manic.

On February 1st 2023, Halsey shared,

Halsey has also interpolated songs from the 90’s/2000s in the bridges of two of her previous songs. Justin Timberlake’s 2002 hit “Cry Me a River” in “Without Me” and The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1994 track “Juicy”: in “New Americana”

Halsey has been incredibly outspoken on topics they are passionate about on social media since the start of their career in the early 2010s. Halsey also interacts with their fans often which only gains more attention from news sources that may not understand what their conversations mean.
