“Guilty” is a song from Marina and the Diamonds' debut album The Family Jewels about a dark dream she had. In the dream, Marina was trusted to watch a wealthy friend’s rare dogs. Every time she tried to pick up a dog, she would break its legs. She could either tell the owner and face the consequence or lock them in a cabinet to die. She chose to let them die.

Instead of facing the reality of what she did, she ran from it and suffered the guilt in secrecy. Now it seems when she’s looking back, she regrets how she handled the aftermath of her actions.
