Supersonic Lyrics
I need to be myself
I can't be no one else
I'm feeling supersonic, give me gin and tonic
You can have it all, but how much do you want it?
You make me laugh
Give me your autograph
Can I ride with you in your BMW?
You can sail with me in my yellow submarine
[Pre-Chorus]
You need to find out
'Cause no one's gonna tell you what I'm on about
You need to find a way for what you want to say
But before tomorrow
[Chorus]
'Cause my friend said he'd take you home
He sits in a corner all alone
He lives under a waterfall
Nobody can see him
Nobody can ever hear him call
Nobody can ever hear him call
[Interlude]
(Ah, ah-ah)
You need to be yourself
You can't be no one else
I know a girl called Elsa, she's into Alka-Seltzer
She sniffs it through a cane on a supersonic train
And she makes me laugh
I got her autograph
She done it with a doctor on a helicopter
She's sniffing in a tissue selling the Big Issue
[Pre-Chorus]
When she finds out
No one's gonna tell her what I'm on about
You need to find a way for what you want to say
But before tomorrow
[Chorus]
'Cause my friend said he'd take you home
He sits in a corner all alone
He lives under a waterfall
Nobody can see him
Nobody can ever hear him call
Nobody can ever hear him call
[Guitar Solo]
About
“Supersonic” was released as the debut single from the album Definitely Maybe, April 11th 1994. It was written by Noel Gallagher and recorded in a single day in December 1993 at The Pink Museum recording studio in Liverpool with Chris and Tony Griffiths of The Real People. The Recording Engineer was Phil Antigua, as Dave Scott who was scheduled to record the session had gone home to feed his dog. The band was there to record “Bring It On Down” but first, as a warm up, they started jamming together. Soon Noel Gallagher was humming a melody over McCarroll and Bonehead’s rhythm until he called the jam to a halt as it was time to start recording “Bring It On Down”. Real People’s Tony Griffiths then entered the room, informing them that their “jam” had the makings of a hit record. A few minutes later, during which Gallagher wrote the lyrics in a corner, “Supersonic” had been born. Tony Griffiths guided Liam through the tune and provided backing vocals. The recording was completed in 11 hours and it was never remixed.
In 2006, it was included in the “Best Of”-compilation Stop The Clocks and in 2010 it was included in the singles collection Time Flies… 1994-2009.
