Me and Kurt feel the same, too much pleasure is pain
My girl spites me in vain, all I do is complain
She needs somethin' to change, need to take off the e-e-edge
So fuck it all tonight
And don't tell me to shut up
When you know you talk too much
But you don't got shit to say (Say)
[Chorus: Post Malone]
I want you out of my head
I want you out of my bedroom tonight (Bedroom)
There's no way I could save you (Save you)
'Cause I need to be saved too
I'm no good at goodbyes
[Verse 2: Post Malone]
We're both actin' insane, but too stubborn to change
Now I'm drinkin' again, 80 proof in my veins
And my fingertips stained, looking over the e-e-edge
Don't fuck with me tonight
Say you needed this heart, then you got it (Got it)
Turns out that it wasn't what you wanted (Wanted)
And we wouldn't let go and we lost it
Now I'm a goner
I want you out of my head (Head)
I want you out of my bedroom tonight (Bedroom)
There's no way I could save you (Save you)
'Cause I need to be saved too (Saved too)
I'm no good at goodbyes
[Verse 3: Young Thug]
I want you out of my life
I want you back here tonight
I'm tryna cut you, no knife
I wanna slice you and dice you
My heart get possessive, it got you precise
Can you not turn off the TV? I'm watchin' the fight
I flood the garage, blue diamond, no shark
You're Barbie life doll, it's Nicki Minaj
You don't need a key to drive, your car on the charger
I just wanna see the side, the one that's unbothered (Yeah)
And I don't want ya to never go outside (Outside)
I promise if they play, my niggas slidin' (Slidin')
I'm fuckin' her, and the tour bus still ridin' (Ridin')
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
[Chorus: Post Malone]
I want you out of my head (Head)
I want you out of my bedroom tonight (Bedroom)
There's no way I could save you (Save you)
'Cause I need to be saved too (Saved too)
I'm no good at goodbyes
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye (Bye, bye)
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye (Bye, bye)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye (Bye, bye, bye)
I'm no good at goodbyes
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye (Bye, bye)
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye (Bye, bye)
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye (Bye, bye)
I'm no good at goodbyes
About
“Goodbyes” serves as the second single for Post Malone’s third studio album, Hollywood’s Bleeding. The track also marks his first single of 2019 and the first collaboration between Post and Young Thug. Throughout the song, Post sings about troubles with a girl and expresses his desire to remove her from his life, while Thug’s part seems to suggest that he’s trying to reconnect with a girl, which is in complete contrast to the rest of the song.
The music video for the track features Post being stabbed and killed in the very beginning. Throughout the remainder of the video, a zombified Post emerges from his grave and walks around the Wild West-like town where he comes across Young Thug singing to the same crowd that killed him earlier on. There, he confronts the girl who left him behind originally, which could be a reference to Post’s ex-girlfriend, Ashlen Diaz.
A snippet of the song originally surfaced online on March 12, 2019, and the full song leaked on March 14, 2019. After speculation by various media outlets, Post confirmed the track would be released on July 5, 2019, in a Twitter post.

A great story with great lyrics. The video was super fun to make. I remember having the idea for the video ‘cause I just wanted it to be like a 50’s knife and die instantly. Being on tour and hearing everyone sing it, it’s really cool.
“Goodbyes” marks the first time the two have ever appeared on a track together, however, it’s not the first time that the pair have worked together.
In an interview with Mavaza TV in December 2015, Thug teased the possibility of a collaborative project with Post. In the end, however, it never released as Post never recorded his parts. Post later told XXL in 2017 that the duo had “some killer shit” recorded.
Also, Thug’s “Me Or Us” from his 2017 project BEAUTIFUL THUGGER GIRLS features production from Post. Producer Charlie Handsome confirmed that Post “cut melodies to it too,” but none of them made it onto the final product. However, a Post-only demo of the song and a Thug-and-Post demo of the song leaked in July 2019.
Post shared a promotional image as well as the release date on Twitter on July 2, 2019.
