The Sun and Moon Roll Around Too Soon Lyrics

I know the sun and the moon
They roll around to soon
Good luck, good luck
I take my morning salvation
Slow from my Jerusalem cup
Straight up

Undertones in my bones from the last time
You sell your truth and I will sell you mine
Right or wrong, there's a longing to waste time
Fill up on love and other medicines

I hear you're wanting some more
I hear you're wanting what's yours
I hear you're wanting some more
I hope you're getting more

And when the last cycle ceases
I'm sweeping up the pieces of you and me
I'd go to hell's farthest reaches
To pick you up some peaches and cream
Obscene

Undertones in my bones from the last time
You sell your truth and I will sell you mine
Right or wrong, there's a longing to waste time
Fill up on love and other medicines
I hear you're wanting some more
I hear you're wanting what's yours
I hear you're wanting some more
I hope you're getting more

Come lay me wrong, come lay me right
Come lay me pure unsatisfied

I hear you're wanting some more
I hear you're wanting what's yours
I hear you're wanting some more
I hear you're wanting some more

Undertones in my bones from the last time
You sell your truth and I will sell you mine
I hear you're wanting some more
I hope you're getting more

Genius Annotation

In an article for Glide Magazine, The Temperance Movement’s drummer Damon Wilson explained that The Sun and the Moon started with a line from Paul Sayer (guitarist) in studio while making the album. “You know the sun and the moon, they roll around too soon, so good luck” was the seed that grew into the song. Wilson didn’t believe there was any specific narritive for this track. He would say that the meaning of the song has to do with appreciating the time we have in life because it always ends too soon.
