Just You and I Lyrics
Let's get drunk
I'll pour my heart out through my mouth
This year's been hard for us, no doubt
Let's raise a glass to a better one
Let all the things that we've overcome
Bring hope to us 'cause
Me and you, we can hold this out
Only you understand how I'm feeling now, yeah
[Pre-Chorus]
And I know I can tell you anything
You won't judge, you're just listening, yeah
'Cause you're the best thing that ever happened to me
[Chorus]
'Cause my darling, you and I
Could take over the world
One step at a time
Just you and I (Just you and I)
'Cause you're the only one
Who brings light just like the sun
One step at a time
Just you and I (Just you and I)
[Verse 2]
Let's get drunk
Reminisce about the days
We were broke, not getting paid
And taking trips on the weekend
When I would drive down to see ya
And we would paint the town
Too many shots, I'll be passing out
'Cause I can never keep up
Quad vods, now I'm puking up
I know I can tell you anything
You won't judge, you're just listening, yeah
'Cause you're the best thing that ever happened to me
[Chorus]
'Cause my darling, you and I
Could take over the world
One step at a time
Just you and I (Just you and I)
'Cause you're the only one
Who brings light just like the sun
One step at a time
Just you and I (Just you and I, just you and I)
[Verse 3]
Tired of chasing paper
Staring at this screen
Been saving up for weeks now
Just to get to you, my dear
And though you're far from my home
This ain't no weekend bar
Oh, my heart grows fonder
Must be city love
[Chorus]
'Cause my darling, you and I
Could take over the world
One step at a time
Just you and I
'Cause my darling, you and I
Could take over the world
One step at a time
Just you and I (Just you and I)
'Cause you're the only one
Who brings light just like the sun
One step at a time
Just you and I (Just you and I)
Yeah, one step at a time, just you and I
Yeah, one step at a time, just you and I
About
Originally released in 2016 as an acoustic recording from Tom Walker’s debut EP Blessings, the Manchester singer revamped the track for his debut album What a Time To Be Alive. The new version is a dreamy, reggae-tinged track which was dropped on January 11, 2019 as the follow-up single to his breakthrough hit “Leave a Light On.”
Tom Walker wrote this love song about his girlfriend Annie. By the time he rereleased the track they’d got engaged.
Tom Walker said on Instagram:
Well, last year was the best year of my life. I would assume most people will think that because of music, but it’s actually because I proposed to the LOVE of my life Annie, and she said YES!!! As a little celebration I thought I’d put a little spin on the original. I know this song means a lot to a lot of people out there, but you can’t begin to understand what it means to me and Annie. She is my queen, my one and only and makes me happier than anyone could possibly imagine. P.S feel free call me a soppy cheesy bastard, I’m cool with it. feels nice to be in love and be loved back all the same
The video was shot in Southend-on-Sea, where the pier is famous for being the world’s longest pleasure pier. A pier is a platform sticking out into water, usually the sea, which people walk along or use when getting onto or off boats, however many other useful facilities and attractions can also be found.

Depends on what mood you are in… If you’re down for a little boogie, the new one. If it’s a kind of romantic reflective period in your life, the old one.
