Following New York rapper Tim Dogg’s song “Fuck Compton”, West Coast pioneers and Compton residents Joe Cooley and Rodney O wanted to reply to the disses the California scene was getting from the eastcoast and made “Fuck New York”. This was the start of the westcoast/eastcoast beef.
The album was also created with the idea to really push the idea that Rodney O and Joe Cooley alongside their crew (including Insane Poetry and Vanilla Ice) were being overlooked by their peers – so they created the supergroup “Hit-Men” to really push the idea that they were the best rappers and beatmakers around – even if the listeners “don’t hear” em tho.
