On July 27, 2022, TWICE celebrated their fifth anniversary of debuting in Japan with the release of their fourth full-length Japanese album, Celebrate.
The album’s lead single, “Celebrate,” was released ahead of the album’s official launch on July 15. Produced by collapsedone and Justin Reinstein, who had previously worked with TWICE on their first English-language single, “The Feels,” and lyrics were written by TWICE members and their label’s CEO, J.Y. Park.
In addition to the lead single, “TICK TOCK” and “That’s all I’m saying,” both written by member DAHYUN, showcased her songwriting prowess. The album also included two previously released singles: “Just be yourself,” which was featured in a CF for their Japanese hair product endorsement, LUX, and “Doughnut,” the lead track from their ninth Japanese single album.
Celebrate sold over 133,866 copies, achieving Gold certification by the RIAJ. This marked their first Japanese release to sell over 100,000 copies in a year since Kura Kura, which had sold 97,680 copies in May 2021.
