Arcane (2021-2024) is a Netflix television show adapted from the lore of Riot Games’ video game League of Legends. The show was always planned to be two seasons, though other spin-offs were to go into development if Arcane proved to be well-received — and well-received it was. Totaling eighteen episodes over two seasons, both seasons topped Netflix’s charts in dozens of countries, and reviews were widely positive with the second season maintaining a 9.0 or higher for every episode on IMDB for nearly two months after release.
The show was led by a group of creatives from Riot Games and animation studio Fortiche, including showrunners Alex Yee and Christian Linke who work as creative developers on League of Legends, composers Mako and Scherzophrenia who led the musical direction of the show and have been involved with the Riot Games Music Team, and animation directors Pascal Charrue and Arnaud Delord from Fortiche.
