Domino (Hiero)

AKA: Domino (Hieroglyphics) and Damian Siguenza

About Domino (Hiero)

Domino (born Damian Siguenza in San Francisco, CA on November 9, 1970) is a producer, manager, DJ and member of the Oakland-based hip-hop collective Hieroglyphics. He got the name “Domino” in high school as he started as a rapper but decided to scrap the rap and focus on production. While frequenting The Groove Merchant record store in San Francisco, Domino met Dante Ross, an A&R and producer at Elektra Records who would later connect him with Del the Funky Homosapien, who later connected Domino to the rest of the Hiero crew.

Domino is known for his sampling of jazz and funk records that can be heard in his productions on multiple Hiero albums, including Del’s No Need For Alarm, Souls of Mischief’s 93 ‘Til Infinity, and Casual’s Fear Itself, as well as Hiero’s first two group albums, 3rd Eye Vision and Full Circle. After Del, Casual, and Souls of Mischief left their respective labels, Domino went on to become the CEO of Hieroglyphics Imperium in 1997 and the Hiero members released a number of their subsequent albums through the label.
