Shelley Marshaun Massenburg-Smith (born August 3, 1988), better known by his stage name DRAM, is a Virginia-based rapper, singer, and producer. He was first placed in the spotlight in 2015 when Beyoncé shared a video of her own rendition of his hit song “Cha Cha,” a single on his #1EpicSummer mixtape.
“Cha Cha” was originally released in 2014 and first picked up by Cleveland R&B radio station Z 107.9 FM in their “weekend warmer” campaign.
He was born Shelley Massenburg-Smith in 1988 in Germany.
His stage name, DRAM, is an acronym that stands for “does real-ass music.” He briefly used “Shelley” as a stage name.
