Gang of Four are an English punk rock band formed in the late 1970s in Leeds, England, initially comprised of vocalist Jon King, guitarist Andy Gill, drummer Hugo Burnham and bassist Dave Allen. A landmark in the development of rock sound in the 70s and 80s, Gang of Four are widely regarded as one of the founders of original post-punk scene, along with other England-based contemporaries like Public Image Ltd, Joy Division, The Cure and Bauhaus.
Their musical style mixes traditional punk rock with elements of funk, reggae, dub and other styles of music, as well as an emphasis on guitar effects, unique production and even synthesizers.
