Signed to Nick Cannon’s NCredible Entertainment and debuting in 2009, School Gyrls, alternatively known by the name FOREVER that was adopted by them in mid-2012, was an American girl group active from the late 2000’s into the early 2010’s.
The group would come about after the inclusion of lead singer Mandy Rain on Cannon’s Star Camp. Cannon would then build a group around her, originally including Monica Parales and Jasmine Villegas before Villegas departure and subsequent replacement with Jacque Rae Pyles. Releasing two songs in early 2010 (“Something Like a Party” and “Get Like Me”), the group would notably star in an eponymous Nickelodeon movie in February 2010, releasing their accompanying debut album a month after, in March, which would go on to peak at number 118 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Later that same year, the School Gyrls would release another straight-to-TV Nickoldeon movie titled “A Very School Gyrls Holla-Day”, coinciding with the release of their album of the same name. Shortly after this, Rain and Pyles would decide to leave to pursue solo careers. Following this, many different female artists would be introduced and removed in an attempt to replace them.
After all the line up changes, the group decided to change their name to “Forever” (stylized as FOREVER). Following the name change, the remaining members would eventually leave and the group would be disbanded.
