Tego Calderón (born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on February 1, 1972) is a rapper and record producer, known for being one of the artists that popularized reggaeton music in the mainstream market during the early 2000s.
During his career, he incorporated elements of different music genres after being exposed to them while living in Puerto Rico and Miami. These styles vary from hip hop and reggaeton to salsa and African rhythms.
He studied percussion at Miami Beach Senior High and plays drums, bongos, and timbales.
His lyrics explore themes including social consciousness, personal experiences, politics, introspection, child abuse, sex, and dance.
