About Ty Fyffe

Tyrone “Ty” Fyffe is a music producer and President of Tybu Productions, hailing from Queens, New York.

In the late-1980s he came up under Teddy Riley, who is known as the co-creator of the New Jack Swing genre. His second stretch of production lessons came in the early-‘90s from EPMD member Erick Sermon. He was then ready to branch out on his own, and began working with the Flipmode Squad and Lord Have Mercy in the mid-'90s.

Fyffe is now best known for his late-‘90s/early-'00s freelancing work for the Def Jam Recordings roster and its sub-labels, which came about after he built relationships with Irv Gotti and Chris Lighty. Frequent collaborators included Jay-Z, DMX, Ja Rule, Redman and Foxy Brown.
