About Breakcore

Breakcore is a sub-genre of hardcore and electronic music known for its high BPM, usually capping at 300, complicated breakbeats and odd sampling. The style is comparable to that of drum & bass.

The breakbeat sampled in many breakcore tracks is known as the “Amen Break,” which comes from the track “Amen, Brother” by the six-piece soul group The Winstons, which originally came out in 1969. The break lasts seven seconds and was originally performed by Gregory Sylvester Coleman. This beat has also been sampled in songs of other genres, mostly hip-hop.
