About Indie Rock
Similarly defined to other genres associated with the “indie” movement, indie rock is a label given to artists and groups with a DIY ethos. Distancing themselves from the major labels and what is widely considered to be the “mainstream” sounds of the industry, the genre has come to represent a sound loosely defined by catchy guitar riffs, energetic percussion, and elaborate lyrics.
