Championing Dyslexia Awareness and Advocacy in Africa
About us
The Africa Dyslexia Organization (ADO) is a non-profit dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals with dyslexia and related learning differences across Africa. Built on the pillars of awareness, empowerment, and advocacy, ADO works to break down the barriers that prevent dyslexic individuals from thriving in education and employment. Our mission is to create a continent-wide shift toward inclusive, equitable learning and working environments. At the core of ADO’s mission is the belief in inclusive literacy—ensuring that every child, regardless of neurological differences or socio-economic background, has access to the resources and support needed to read, write, learn, and succeed. We believe literacy extends beyond the basics; it empowers individuals to engage fully with the world around them. For those with dyslexia and related learning differences, traditional literacy programs often miss the mark, leaving millions of children behind. ADO is committed to closing this gap. Through targeted interventions like teacher training and mentorship programs that cater to diverse learning needs, we strive to ensure that no child is left behind on their educational journey. Our comprehensive array of programs, research initiatives, and strategic partnerships aim to reshape educational systems and open doors for dyslexic individuals to excel in all aspects of life. By advocating for inclusive literacy, ADO is not only transforming educational practices but also creating a future where dyslexia is fully recognized, understood, and supported. Our goal is to empower individuals with dyslexia to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
