The West African Craton (WAC) is characterized by two distinct domains with rocks dating back to 2.5-1.6 billion years. This paper, published on October 15, 2024, featuring three of our faculty members, Prof. Patrick Asamoah Sakyi, Dr. Daniel Kwayisi and Dr. Samuel Nunoo (PhD) alongside Dr. Eric Ocran, PhD (Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, University of Ghana), Prof. Ben-Xun Su (Key Laboratory of Mineral Resources, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Prof. Sanjeewa P.K. Malaviarachchi (Department of Geology, Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.), seeks to a provide a thorough understanding of the geotectonic evolution of the southeastern West African Craton. The academics reviewed data on the geochemistry and isotopic ages of the Birimian granitoids. The paper concludes by proposing that the subduction-accretion processes that persisted in the Birimian terrane of the West African Craton made the Craton a key player in the assemblage of the Columbia supercontinent. Preserving geological sites! Our faculty member, Dr. Marian Selorm Sapah, delivered an insightful presentation on "Geoheritage, Geoconservation, and Geotourism: Considerations for Geoeducation in Ghana" at the just ended geoscience conference in Sunyani.
