It was truly inspiring to see the creativity and innovation that came from individuals with disabilities themselves, who understand firsthand the challenges they face and how technology can help overcome them. The sense of empowerment and pride among all participants was palpable, as they showcased their talents and contributions to a more inclusive society. The judges were impressed not only by the technical prowess displayed in the assistive technologies created but also by the passion and determination shown by each participant. As the competition ended, there was a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie among all involved. The Persons with disabilities felt valued, respected, and most importantly, included in a way that is often lacking in mainstream society. Team Code Craft Mavericks won the 2024 DI-HACK competition with their innovative creation, Steward Visual Assistance, which aids visually impaired individuals. Steward uses computer vision for text extraction, identifies objects and colors, and offers companionship through conversations. It also assists with navigation using ultrasonic sensors and vibration motors and features a virtual assistant powered by Natural Language Processing.
