A skills-development organization that provides vocational and entrepreneurial training to women & girls across Ghana
About us
Network of Women in Growth (NEWIG), Ghana, was established in January, 2002 as a skills-development, non-profit, non-governmental organization. NEWIG provides vocational and entrepreneurial training, specialist advice and help to a wide range of clients in the area of small scale enterprise development. NEWIG from its inception have taken bold steps to reach out to marginalized, rural women in all the ten regions of Ghana with minimal external donor support, depending mostly on intensive internally generated resources. NEWIG has a proven track record with regard to target groups. For 15 years, we have trained over 6,000 women, mostly rural illiterate and semi-illiterate unemployed and small-scaled entrepreneurs, across the country. Over 60% of our beneficiaries are now running their own viable businesses. NEWIG was registered by the Registrar-General’s Department to commerce business on 22nd April, 2004. It was issued with a certificate, numbered G-12,117 as well as a Certificate of Incorporation. Additionally, it registered with Department of Social Welfare to operate as an NGO and was issued with a certificate numbered DSW./2408. Currently, we work tirelessly to improve the socio-economic and political status of poor, marginalized and vulnerable women in Sogakope and its environs in the Volta Region of Ghana. This enables them get into gainful employment; attain and play leadership roles in society as well as make them aware of their rights through training and advocacy with the ultimate vision of a society in which men and women are accorded equal rights, equal responsibilities and equal opportunities for sustainable development. Guess who our Executive Director Mawulawoe Adjoa Awity bumped into at the airport. Read her encounter ⬇️ ‘Today, upon arrival at the airport, I had the pleasure of encountering a #NEWIGGhana beneficiary from our Women in Professional Driving Initiative, who was driving the transportation bus.’ Her success story exemplifies the impactful work undertaken by Network of Women In Growth. Our commitment to enhancing women’s economic well-being through vocational training yields remarkable outcomes. Interacting with empowered beneficiaries who effectively leverage these skills reinforces my pride in our organization. We appreciate the invaluable support from EMpower—The Emerging Markets Foundation and African Women's Development Fund (AWDF) which enables us to execute initiatives focused on equipping women to excel in traditionally male-dominated fields. #economicempowerment #nontraditionallivelihoods #womenempowerment #ngoimpact

In January, Network of Women in Growth Ghana launched an ambitious project with support from The Coca-Cola Foundation to provide skills and business management training to marginalized women in four urban centers across Ghana. Focused on economic inclusion and empowerment, this initiative has already transformed the lives of nearly 200 women in Accra and Sekondi-Takoradi! Next up is our training in Kumasi and Tamale. Before the train moves, let’s a moment to relive the excitement from our January project launch as we continue to empower women and change lives! #NEWIG_Ghana #TheCocaColaFoundation #WomenEmpowerment #EconomicInclusion #SkillsTraining #EmpoweringGhana

During our recent training Takoradi, we were inspired by our women with disability who shared their personal experiences and challenges. There were practical sessions for the beneficiaries to have a hands-on experience on soap production. #NEWIG_Ghana #TheCocaColaFoundation #EconomicInclusion #WomenEmpowerment #SkillsTraining #WesternRegion
